Real quick one this.

I'm about to upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate 64 (from xp 64), I have a 4 year old X-Fi music xtream, and have read Creative really messed the drivers up with Win 7!

I notice Creative only released new drivers for the card last month. Does anyone know if Creative fixed the issues, or should I just purchase another card.

Cheers
Jason

I have that card, and have Win7 64bit. No issues for me, even with Creative's own. Same people do get issues though. Worth trying modified drivers like PAX, before deciding to get a new card, assuming there are any issues. :)

It's a lottery. The same card can be absolutely fine in one Win 7 system and completely dead in the next.

I had an Xtreme Music (SB0670). It wouldn't work at all for me in Vista x64 with 4GB RAM (complete silence) but is doing a perfect job in a friend of mine's machine in W7 x64.

More often than not they're fine but those that complain do so loudly.

Very true. Normally people wont post about their working card, so most of the time we just see the bad comments, which perhaps gives the impression there are more people with issues, than people who have none.

I had problems with the X-Fi drivers, I'm not to bothered as was secretly wanting to try Asus Essence anyway and picked one up from Overclockers at weekend, dam good card much better then my 4 year old X-Fi. X-Fi will go on the bay!

Thanks anyway
Jason
