Ok my first question in a series about GFX's and motherboards. This one being about GFX's (Duh).

Is the X1800 XT worth the extra £120 ish over the X800? Looking at the models below.

I already assume that the 512MB version is easily worth the extra £20 over the 256MB for the X1800's.

PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO16 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-055-PC)
£123.32

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-048-PC)
£246.69

Yes the x1800 would give a huge boost in performace over the x800, the extra £20 is worth it if you are running at resolutions of 1280x1024 and up, as thats when the 512mb pulls away from the 256mb, and also it helps more in the AA/AF dept. :)

An Extra £20 to run non almost 3year old tech like dx9b and pixel shader 2.0 is worth it IMO :D

EDIT, your says extra £120 but above user says extra £20

If your a gammer its still worth it unless you really cant afford it.

Yes as any X800/850 cant run at a fully supported hardware level DX9C and P.S 3.0/ S.M 3.0 and real HDR, so many games in past year (from FarCry patched to 1.3 and Splinter Cell CT) or so support this and all from now on will.

Basically the x1800 series of cards is newer and will be supported by games for longer and are much faster, especially at higher resolutions than an x800. However, if you please a bit of Half Life 2 at 1280x1024, then something like an x800GTO will be really good and of course, being half the price of the x1800, you can spend that difference on a x1800 when the x2800 (or whatever) come out in a 18 months time :)

Yes as he was on about the 512mb x1800 XT being worth the extra £20 over the 256mb x1800 XT. :)
