I'm looking at buying either of the above within the next week but the lucky winner will be going into an Antec Aria. Whilst I know the Antec PSU's are good, which of these cards has the lowest power requirements?

Cheers lads.

wouldn't it be worth considering the X1800XT for the sake of £20-£30? You do get the extra 4 pipelines and the core and clock speeds are far higher...

oops, sorry, just noticed the case restrictions. :o

The x1800xt 256 should be a lot faster than the 7600gt and equals the 7900gt which is over £200 bargain :D

I'm not too fussed about extreme speed as I don't play anything other than Flight Sim anyway but the card has to have low power requirements due to the proposed case.

The Geforce will more than likely have a lower power requirement, at least the 7*00 series usually do over the X1*00 series cards but I am not sure about those specific two.

The X1800GTO can get flashed to an XT cant it ??

Unfortunately not.

I've an x1800GTO at the moment, bought it a couple of weeks ago now on OcUK's TWO offer at £135+VAT. It's a bargain for that money, and mines sitting at 575/550 (1100 effective) as that's as high as the sliders go on Cat control centre and it doesn't artifact at all.

I've an Antec PSU, although mine is 500 Watts, but still it's not as power sapping as the XT or even the XL. For the money it's a great buy and don't forget that next month you'll be able to put two in Crossfire without a mastercard. It looks at the moment that this will be the highest spec card that can go 'dongless' in crossfire on a RD580 board.

At to basket. Dead chuffed. :) Although don't buy it thinking it'll unlock as the HIS boards that initially did it *might* have been a bit of a press stunt.

Simon.

x1800 XT is faster than the 7900 GT, the 7900 GT is around 7800 GTX performance. :)
The 7900GT can be easily modded and reach GTX speeds, but only with a 3rd party cooler of some kind and as power and space are issues the X1800XT 256MB does seem to be a very good option. If not that then im probally 85% certain the 7600 would be better.

I'm not sure why everyone is comparing speeds on these cards, the OP has mentioned a few times now that all he cares about is power consumption due to limitations on his system. :p If he wants the lowest power consumption then he's best off going for the Nvidia, unless there's something I don't know about these specific cards. Nvidia cards generally have less power draw and lower temperatures.
