If i remember rightly the 7600 is the better card, but i could be wrong, which would'nt be unusual for me, so id await more opinions. :D

Just been looking at reviews, they seem about on par, so scrap what i said above. :)

I think overall they are pretty similar performance wise but it depends very much on the game you are playing. I would look at benchmarks with the games you are playing and see which is better. I know that the ATI Radeon 1k cards are much better performers than their Nvidia equivalents when it comes to Oblivion (sorry I just love the game and had to mention that).

go with the 7600gt you wont be dissapointed and as my brother has found it can play all of these games on a decent resolution :D

i decided on getting the 7600gt because in the review posted above it scored better in the majority of the games. also its got lower power consumption, less heat output, less noise and on a personal preference i find the nvidia drivers more robust than that offered by ati.

there almost identical performance except in cases with lots of AA and AF, when the GTO wins as it has better memory interface, but other than that the 7600GT is just as good, and in most cases cheaper, plus (not voltmodding) the 7600GT is superior overclocker and doesn't use as much power or generate as much heat

Can I just ask how people think a 7600GT would compare to some of the older cards, say an X850XT or a 6800Ultra?

Cheers

How much extra power is that using now though? :p

doubt its using a lot more since its still getting its power from the pcie slot so its got to be under the limit which i think is 75w.
