For a couple of weeks now I have noticed that sometimes when there is a Dark background, I get red lines flashing every few seconds across part of the screen. This was on XP with latest stable catalyst drivers. Card has never been overclocked and temps are fine.

Since yesterday I have been running Vista RC1 to mess about with and have now noticed some In-Game artifacting:

WoW

Now for some strange reason it is only the chest peices on the characters which is affected. The buildings and other parts of armour are fine.

BF2

As you can see the EA notice message is completely messed up, but the graphics once I am in a server seems completely fine

Does my card sound faulty to you? If these in-game problems are just caused by the BETA Vista ATI driver, then what about the lines I got in XP.

Any advice appreciated :)

Putting Vista RC1 on has just complicated things since now you have several possible causes for every problem - hardware fault, game not working right in vista, or dodgy vista drivers, whereas in XP you could say for sure it was the card since Wow works fine under XP with current ATI drivers.

Flashing red pixels sound familiar, I had some like that and it turned out to be a faulty TFT monitor. Could try connecting the monitor through VGA instead of DVI just to see if it helps. Having said that though, you don't mention getting the flashing pixels in Vista. The corrupted textures - could be memory on the card, could be ATI beta drivers - you'll have to find someone using the same card/drivers with Wow on Vista RC1 and see if they have the same problem, or spend some time googling for Vista RC1 Wow problems, or put XP back on.

Thats a good point as I have only just started using DVI and didnt notice any lines etc with VGA connection to the card. Im just going to take this as the BETA driver then as graphics are fine in XP (Im dual booting).

those glitches look far too specific to be hardware based, when the GPU or memory failes it really throws out random blocks colours and sparkly all over the place.

my advice, delete Vista, go back to XP. you wont need vista for another 8 to 12 months anyway. and i wont touch it till i see an SP1 ready for it.

Ah right, you're dual booting :) So presumably Wow is fine under XP? If it is I suspect your card is ok.

Which TFT is it btw? I had that flashing pixels/lines thing with a crappy Digimate which went straight back for a refund. You could try the 'alternative DVI operation mode' in CCC.

Its a Viewsonic VX715 and yeah everything seems fine on XP, I have also gone back to a normal VGA connector on the TFT and have not seen any red lines either :)
