Hi guys just wondering if i made a good choice to last me untill march when i will upgrade to sli ATI R600 or GTX refreshes from nvidia.

i only play at 1280x1024

and the only reason i have sold my Ati card was becuse in a game i always play im getting lag and stuttering... and thats OBLIVION....

just wondering if the performance jump from x1900XT to Nvidia 8800GTS will be worth it and i will see instant performance....

PSU im useing is OCZ 700W GXTreme
CPU X2 4400+ @2.7ghz
2x1gig G.Skill DDR
DFI LP NF4 SliDR

Does anyone have any gameing stats in oblivion for these 2 cards to see how much more performance i will get.
and is it true that you can overclock these cards to GTX speeds ?????

also whats the best GTS to get ? EVGA or BFG ?

No it's not worth it IMO.

1900XT is more than sufficient for 1280*1024 gaming.

Even my 1800XT can handle Oblivion averaging around 40FPS @ 1280*1024 with everything maxed out and HDR but no AA.

Agreed, must have been something up there as my x1800 XT cuts through Oblivion maxed out at 1280x1024 fine aswell, thats with 2xAA/16x HQ AF + HDR, gets about 30-40 outdoors, and insides is in the hundreds, and its smooth as a babys bum, if your having problems running Oblivion then it wasn't the x1900 at fault as it cuts through it with ease.

x1900 has ages left yet, it will still be going long after R600 and Nvidia's refresh so you could have waited a good while yet, and either picked up a cheap G80, or a much better/faster card.

there must be something fubar with those tests. on that hardware site....
i get way more performance than a 8800 GTS with my X1900XT in those tests.

i thought the G80 GTSs where fast !

what do you guys suggest i buy then ?
if the GTS isnt worth it...

just want something that hammers oblivion lol and thats faster than a X1950XTX

Are those scores minimum or something? - no way does my X850XT see "13" frames as shown in the graph (oblivion outdoors). I'ts quite playable actually and I can see a X1900XT/XTX easing through this game @12x8 res - AND higher

These "charts and graphs" always seem to be lower than they are when you actually play the games yourself - i find You can tailor your own settings, and a tweak here and there can make a big difference - like making the game "your own"..

No one takes any notice of Toms, it says on there that the x1800 XT in Oblivion with no AA/8xAF only gets 20fps, what a load of rollocks, maxed out here 1280x1024 2xAA/16xHQAF+HDR outdoors is between 30-40fps, indoors in the hundreds as i said above, ive never seen 20fps in it, ive never seen below 30 even when im fighting outdoors. :p

well i just bought a XpertVision GeForce 8800 GTX so i hope it plays oblivion ok with max aa and af :)

im just wondering if anyone know of a review for this card or pictures of it and its box lol
and finaly the warrantee they have.

the 8800gts is a very good card it walks all over my EVGA superclocked GX2, plus it OC very well, over 18000 on 3dmark05 and over 10000 on 06, so i would say its well worth it.

I made the move from a x1900xt too a gts and i goto say this card is amazing, i can play 2142 now maxed 8xaa 16af at 1600x1200 and its smooth as a baby's u know the rest even tried 16aa and its still smooth just 8 is enough for me, even with 4x on me x1900xt i couldn't manage super smooth at 1600x1200 and since finding some good drivers the iq is far far better.

Done abit of overclocking on this card and hit 10355 on 3dmark 2006 am pretty impressed with that, i went for the bfg model simply as lifetime warranty is a good thing.

Just get a 8800 and floor the competition

My GTX doubles my framrate in oblivion and this is coming from a GX2

yeah but you got a Conroe, wont be getting one of those untill march next year.. or going quadcore2duo...

I just hope with the cpu i have X2 4400+ @2.7ghz, that i will see a good boost on oblivion *outdoors* than i did with my X1900XTX..

the g80 has 740DDR, you dont happen to know if oblivion will use all that onboard ddr ??? if not still i hope i get a improvment becuse running my X1900XTX in oblivion can get incredibly choppy in forest areas with only 2xAA +HDR + 16af all max in game settings.

also i notice choppyness stutters when going from area to area where i have to do a complete 360 to fix it when coming out of indoor areas to outdoor area and going past zones outdoors where background loads lol

this is the only game im buying this card for hopeing to see great performance. and the bonus of DX10 of course :P

40-80% boost in FPS in oblivion at 1280x1024 when you use HDR AA+AF - not too shabby.

Not saying that there won't be a huge performance boost.

it's just that if the 1900XT can handle >30fps in games at reasonably high details then I don't see why you can't at least wait a couple of months until R600 is released then decide what to get next.

But hey he's already got a 8800 so it's great. :)
