X1900XT works fine the screen goes White???

Says it all above. Things work fine then screen will either go white or black and white. I cant change this so have to reboot. Whats wrong? Could my nice new card be on its way out?

Have you tried just booting with base drivers in safe mode to see if it a software fault. Could try other drivers perhaps. If it still doing it in safe mode then it could be the card itself. How far does it boot?, does it go into the bios or windows or does it happen in a specific app or game?

It has only happened twice. The first time the PC booted to Bios and not windows screen went white. Then today it loaded windows fine then while I was at desktop it went white. Rebooted and all is fine. Im thinking graphics card fault or poor drivers??

Check that your XT and Audigy2 are not on the same IRQ

I would definitely try different GFX drivers. Actually from what you said it only done it randomly with the set you installed. See if it does it in safe mode or the default drivers the OS installs. Give a try and you should be able to determine if it the card or the software.

Have you got another GFX card handy at all?

Sadly Kyo I just sold my other card. Since this morning it has not happened again. At least its under warranty

Driver version from device manager is 8.203.0.0

Definitely keep on eye on it even if it works ok for the next week or so. Not wanting to scare you but signs like that are not normally good. Fingers -x it not hardware :eek:

I am not familiar with the ATI driver set so it could be worthwhile that someone who is suggest a earlier set that is stable for sure.

I rang tech support and this is a known issue with the Sapphire cards. The solution is ti install the microsoft .net fix and reinstall the ATI 6.2 drivers. I will report back if this worked.

I've just had a white screen with my HIS X1900XT in 3DMark 2006 - Canyon Flight.

I installed .net 1.1 and 2.0 before the cat 6.2's.

Where is this .net fix?

EDIT - Is it the Service Pack 2 for .net?

EDIT 2 - Won't install on my system? :confused:

Says 'Upgrade Patch cannot be installed by Windows Installer because the program to be upgraded maybe missing'

Still happens in Canyon Flight after disabling the .net service.

EDIT - I have Cat AI set to High if it makes any diff? (Benching)

W00t - fixed now.

I installed Service Pack 1 for .net 1.1

Then, uninstalled cat 6.2, rebooted and installed cat 6.2 again.

All is good.

EDIT - Just noticed that Texture Quality and Mipmap turned to 'High Performance' no longer results in the title sreens of 3DMark being blurred (except in '05), which makes me think the settings aren't being set correctly. Score will confirm.

EDIT 2 - It's all good, I'm just paranoid about my new card being perfect!

The HDR lighting in Canyon flight has caused a lot of people including myself to have a white screen. This was caused by mipmap being on performance rather than quality, this also caused the blurry loading screens. Weird how yours is the opposite. :confused:

Looks like I spoke to soon. After all the above and 24hrs of running fine under various applications including games it did the same thing this morning x2

What games is it doing it in?

What did you do to try to solve the issue?

No specific game it does it within 4 minutes of the PC starting. I then reboot and it might do it again then it stays fine. All it does with no pattern to programs or games is the screen will go all one colour or flicker several colours. I then have to reset PC and restart. I have applied all the .net patches and reinstalled 6.2 drivers. I just think this card is going to die on me

When you uninstalled the drivers, best to use driver cleaner before you reapply 6.2
