What would be best crossfire 5850 or one 5870? Performance and Bange for the Buck?

x2 5850 or x1 5870?

5850 is about 15% slower than a 5870. The 5850 crossfire is a smidge slower than a 5970...
a 5850 at 5870 speeds is only 5% slower in most scenarios so if I were you I would just get a single 5850 and clock it at 850.1200 (which 95% of cards will do if not more). that way you get to save some cash as it looks as though you may have settled on a 5870 anyway.

I agree with Andrew, If you get the 5850s you could just overclock them to 5870 clocks.
Then hey presto you basically have crossfire 5870s
