I was wondering if it is worth the upgrade from my 6400+ to the new 7750?

Its the difference in gaming performance that I'm interested in (wow primaraly)

Thanks all:)

you can probably overclock your 6400+ higher, or more easily and really you won't see much in it, unless someone comes up with some way to unlock 1/2 cores then you really wouldn't see a difference. The 6400+ should be able to do a decent speed so I wouldn't worry.

IN a couple games that can use quads (read that as, are ridiculously badly coded like GTA4) then a Deneb could well be worth it. Though if you're limited to £70 that won't help, though at that price a 9550 isn't far off and in a few months when the lower speed Deneb's are available there should be one around the £100 mark which might offer insane value for money, good clocking and very good clock for clock performance.

Overclocking wise the 7750 BE overclocks fairly easily to 3.2 using the stock HSF and by all acounts should reach 3.6-3.7 using a decent HSF and from what ive read of the 6400 it appears to have problems getting past 3.4
Performance wise the new 7750 keeps up with and sometimes outperforms intels E8200 review verdict
But is it a worthy upgrade from your current 6400 i would tend to say not really it's more like a sideways step untill the new Phenomm II's are on the market, Yes it is faster and a better performer than your current CPU judging by the few reviews currently out.
Personaly im waiting for the new Phenom II cpu's to become availeable before i decide which way im upgrading.
For me the 7750 doe's offer a good upgrade path as i still currently us the 4400+ 939 setup but i want to see what sort of prices the newer cpus will come out at.
Since i dont upgrade very often i want to make sure im getting the best bang for my buck which could mean in my case a quad core
