X25-M TRIM Firmware 02HD now available

Excellent, go for it. And be sure to let us know how you get on! :p

Could you not of put this in the X25-M thread though?

Edit; Oooh, I see it's for the 50nm drives too. I wonder if they've enabled TRIM on them?

Have updated my 2 X25-M G2s and so far everything ok, have rebooted a few times, not really any change in performance...

Can i do this from usb stick or does it have to be cd as it says in the guide( only recently had my drive)

Pretty painless it now says in that Crystal Disk Inf i have Trim, so what happens now does W7 do the necessary things to it automatically.

cheers for the heads up m8 will update this at the weekend maybe when i buy a second drive, so i take it this is what allows the trim in raid 0 mode

hmm just reading the install data for this and it says that the tool will not work in raid mode, so if i change the mode to ahci then will i lose all the info on my raid setup, if so i will need to buy a 1tb hdd to backup all my files.

How to run the firmware upgrade from a USB stick? Please don't post any obsolete, generic "boot from USB-drive guide".

Correct!

Also flashing your drives in AHCI mode will kill them deader than a dead thing that is very dead
Use IDE :D

Didn't know that.

Is it poss to just switch to IDE in the bios and boot up to do the update, before rebooting and switching it back to AHCI?

I think that's what is suggested, Reboot, go to bios and switch to IDE, boot via CD and run the firmware upgrade, reboot before loading windows and change back to AHCI then proceed as normal

Correct?

Yeah you have to set bios back to ide, mine just hung waiting for the cd soon as i put ide on it went straight in then i put it back on AHCI.

Glad it did now after reading remarks above lol could have had a dead drive.

Saying that must run the updater in IDE mode is slightly misleading. Some will indeed have to, if running NVIDIA / AMD chipsets for example, but I have successfully updated in AHCI mode, as have many others. It will all depend on your particular mobo / controller.

On the other hand some of those who tried in AHCI mode have been left with a fully working disk but also with some doubts whether it is running the right firmware (update initially claims it has failed but on a second attempt claims it is already updated) - http://communities.intel.com/message/76106

IDE mode is probably a safer bet!
