Hi, just got a 360 and a vga cable to use with my dell 2005fpw, if I set the res anything than 1280X720 - the games have the wrong aspect ratio but if I use that res the screen has a white tint! I'm running at 1366X768 and the aspect ratio of the menus are fine just the games.
I've tried running all settings, aspect, fill, 1:1 but all have the wrong aspect ratio unless 1280X720 how can I fix this problem and get the right aspect ratio for my 360?

hmm, sometimes running through vga, the input sometimes goes skewiff, for me,it goes to the left for pc or right for pc, where there is a border down one side, left or right respectively. But my lcd tv has a menu selection to auto adjust vga input, your monitor will have a option like that, and it should auto fill/adjust. also make sure that the dashboard option is set to 1360x768, should do the job. ;)

have you got the latest update? the vga does have some probs (original xbox games refuse to play  ) just seems v.strange  check the pins on the vga plug. check d/board resolution? do auto adjust on tv once loaded up, on mine i can adjust height and vertical independantly, see if you can do that. :D

I haven't hooked it upto the net yet waiting on ethernet cable, hopefully this will sort it out, I can't adjust image size via monitor options unfortunately :( Just position which is automatic and perfect.

my asked for update upon inserting the gow disk, so its like the psp where updates are on the game disks, and you can't play the game w/out the update. BUY GOW! (its quite a good game ;) )

Set it to 1280x1024 and set it to widescreen, then set it back to 1280x768 and see if that helped at all. Mine's worked fine on my 2005fpw from day one, so the update probably won't do jack.

The reason 1280x720 (ie 720p) looks washed out is that it's being output at video level, which is to say that the colour levels don't go from 0 (black) to 255 (white), rather 16 (black) to 235 (white). The monitor lacks the ability to sense the video level input and adjust itself accordingly, whereas most HDTVs do. The box outputs 1080p (1920x1080) in the same way (though you won't see the option until you've connected to Live and updated the Dashboard), which is annoying.

i think that they are still working on vga cabling, seen as there is problems, arcade games and original xbox games don't work, so an update would make it work better :D

It's not just this game, tryed demo's its the same with all of them, bah I tried changing to 1280X1024, then to widescreen, then back but it didn't work either.

As far as I'm aware its the same as 1080p, 1920x1080, just progressive scan rather than interlaced

Could be wrong though
