My old Abit NF7s seems to have given up the ghost recently so need a new mobo...

was thinking of an intel based system ... low-mid range basically for a PC that will be used mostly for internet, streaming media files across a home network and the usual wordprocesing etc...

Now I haven't a clue what the different chipsets above mean and which one to go for.. just want a decent budget Dual core (or Quad core if not that expensive) system.

Which chipset should I go for? Preferably looking for onboard sound, graphics, RAID

cheers!:)

ASUS make a ATX board (about £105). Looks pretty decent - HDMI and VGA as well. I would have gotten it if it had HDMI + DVI.

ASUS P5E-V.

I was hoping on board GPU would do me until GeForce 9 series is out (I don't game much on the PC anymore). nForce 7 with onboard GPU isn't out till Q2.

Not sure but it would be good enough for Vista Desktop. I am quite interested in the hybridPower as I want to make a silent as possible PC when watching films, then it can use the external GPU (like a 9600 GT) when needed for games.

99% of the time my PC is just used for web browsing/watching films these days.
