Hi,

OK, I think I'm being a bit thick here.

On an Intel DX58SO board, part of the power connections states (quote)

If additional power is required, connect the appropriate power supply cable to
either the 1 x 4 auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to the SATAstyle auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to both.

Huh?????

Do you use both or not??????

Thanx

It would depend on how much power the graphics card will need as to whether you would need to use any extra PSU cables, If you have the spare connectors on the PSU I would just use them anyway.

Thanx Blackbat,

will prob go for a GTX 260 or 285 depending on funds att.

Single to start and then double up later.

So, you're saying that it deffo won't hurt to connect BOTH connections, in fact it will help if I do use both. ???

I hope I've got that right.

"Use of the 1 x 4 auxiliary PCI Express
graphics power connector (Figure 30, C) or the SATA-style auxiliary power connector
(Figure 30, B) is required with ATX12V power supplies when using PCI Express
graphics cards that can consume up to 75 W."

"4. If additional power is required, connect the appropriate power supply cable to
either the 1 x 4 auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to the SATAstyle
auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to both."

Both quotes from the product guide as you're probably aware, yes it should be fine to connect both. If your graphics card needs more power and either (or both) aren't connected then you would get instability issues, if you graphics card doesn't need extra power and they are connected you wouldn't know. IMHO if you have the connectors going spare on your PSU use them, it shouldn't do any harm.
