As a curiosity:
What do you guys think of flashing this card to the Crucial bios?
Would i wreck it or could i have a small chance of luck. Therefore being then capable to squeeze from her the extra 10mhz that i'm looking for, for my limited but sufficient sattisfaction...
To the ones that aren't aware of my situation i got a card that, with the sixteen pipelines enabled maxes out core around 510.
I made a series of quick tests to the mems and they also seem to prematurely (for my taste!) max out around 560/570.
I confess i am a bit jealous about the cards like the one from techpowerup. I "dreamt" that mine would be like that...
Im also asking this because @ cold, and with this i mean the first boot of the computer where all the pieces start from "cold", i have been able to take the core to 537mhz. However in the inverse proportionaly to the rising temp after some minutes of "work" the max core limit starts to drop.
In my opinion i find this rather odd since im using a Zalman VF-700 Al-Cu, fan in full throttle and the temperatures go nowhere above 55º. When i "tested" it with the stock cooler i had temperatures like 68º @ max. "Normally", lower temps mean a gain of some Mhz, ain't i right?
Now im just "frustrated" for not having tested for shure what was the core limit of the card with the stock cooler to clear out the doubts if it has something to do with temp or if it is really the phisical limit of the transistors.
I beg all my possible pardons for the long text, but this is the first time im putting together all my thoughts about this in hope to enlight a bit more and clear out some of the doubts i hereby present!
Yes!, has it has been said, i have a great card. In "your" familiar expression, it's a "bang for the buck", i know that, however in a "psychologicaly" way im not satisfied because i can't say that i have a modded X850XT, or even (if i afterwords run it at lower speeds) that i made a succesful mod because i can't even achieve the spec speeds of a XT. Not even to mention the PE.
I hope once and for all to clear the point about my "complaints".
I haven't said it earlier, but im really hoping that this is readable and that you guys can understand me. Im from Portugal. Knew a lot of english that "got lost".

Completely rusted out to the bones...

As "introduction" i must say that i do not have any intention to be unpleasent, rude or whatsoever with this second part. I just pretend also to "show" my thoughts about the way things were packed trough mail. International mail in this case since i am from Portugal.
This is an OEM product, i have full knowlegde of that and i do keep it in mind!
However, i have already shopped for other OEM products and that gives me the possibility to compare their packagement to the one that was made by OCUK.
I must remark here that im not complaining in the real sense of the word to or about the shop. Im satisfied with the service. If as i said, i get a way to sell this card, i will not hesitate in buying another from the same place. I just wish with this to leave a "note", and who knows, to make some difference. So that in the future, maybe, OCUK could be even better in this!
As i said, my point here is the "protection" provided to the card, that as OEM has no cardboard package as others.
It comes in her regular antistatic foamed bag, in a regular mail foamed envelope. I presume everybody knows that...
I wouldn't have any problem with that if somethings didn't happen.
To my distaste, the card has arrived with that small metal "bracket" wich is bolted to the pc box, bent. Due to my hurry and fear to see if it was fully functional despite that i didn't take any photos of that... I think now it would be very helpful.
With the help of a "pliers" (i don't know if this is correct... it is what the dictionary told me) and a cloth (not to mark the metal) i managed to put it back in place.
To illustrate the rought treatment that i think the package received i leave a couple of photos...
See those holes in both envelopes? The cards one and the mail one. Those were made precisely by that metal piece of the gfx...
I guess that to produce such effects, the package has been really beaten. What can i say? Mailman treatment... As i said, i have already shopped other oem products and those have come, all, with "extra" protection. For instance cardboard, or even, they came in a box.
If the cause where the shipment costs, why not give to choose that to the buyer?
I have at the sime time bought Geil rams, and those also "suffered".
Their box has arrived in this state. "Broken". This is more for the ones who know are they are in perfect state. They fuction as with a rail. The top cover slides over the bottom one. With the help of those two long pieces that where broken. They used to be part of the top cover.
The products have received no "real" damage preventing them to do their work. The rams had the extra foam from the box and i guess that that was their "insurance".
I repeat and remark, that i do not wish to be unpleasent or rude with this post. I just wish to show, for others to see, as things arrived to me and how i would wish that some things could be a little different. But as i also already said, that wouldn't prevent me from buying from the same place once more.

I'm really sorry for the long post and for the "ridiculous english". I did my best to bring it from the dark part of my memory!
I hope that you can understand me, and, if some moderator/administrator whatsoever feels that this is not the right place for some of my words, or that i have failed to comply with certain rules (wich i really guess i haven't) please fell free to do the necessary modifications!
Best regards, Gak!
The grammar and spelling may not be the best that i could do. I confess im lazy to re-read the whole thing in seach for errors...
