x800GTO16 to x1800xt or XFX7800GT

Bought a x800GTO16 last week and really not overly pleased with it [nvidia fanboy]

Tomorrow im working in Scotland and on the way back intend to pop into OCUK and buy another card

Which 1?

I mainly play BF2 and occasionally CSS at 1280x1074.I also like to benchmark quite a bit so this would also need to be brought into consideration.Which card should i go for?

Great card. Great Value.

Get the 256mb version though

Well out of the x1800xt and the 7800gt, the x1800 is the faster of the two. But if your running at that resolution, you may get away with the x1800 256mb which is only about £20 more than the 7800

X1800XT - 256MB @ 1024 resolution or 512MB @ 1280 resolution

so 512MB

Would i really need the 512mb to run at 1280? My 6800GT managed it fine.

you'll be fine at that res with the 256 version mate! x1800xt 256 is defo the way to go

oh yeah i run the 512 at that res but the difference is that of 5fps i think so no diff really!

Had nvidia so long now,when i bought this x800GTO16 i really couldnt get used to the driver panel.I suppose i'll learn to love it

Well in some game the X1800XT will take the lead on the 7800GTX. The X1800XT is deffo worth the money!

Of course the 7800GT is now £50 less than a 256mb X1800XT (XFX EE on OcUK now). Only £176, might be a better option is you are on a budget.

That 7800GT is fair bit slower than an X1800XT.

Also the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) is Available This Week Only for just £193.82 Including VAT

For an extra £17 the above X1800XT is the better buy.

Ok im trawling the MM for a 2nd hand 7800GT if nothing suitable appears by 3pm im ordering

I would prefer the 7800 too. I know ATI are great but i just like Nvidia. I had an ATI once but had trouble with it so i have always gone for Nvidia since and had no problems!
