Hi guys,

Not sure what is the best section for this but I am having issues with my XBMC/Raspberry Pi/Media server

For the last year I have run my overclocked Raspberry Pi with RASPBMC streaming from my media server (WHS2011) with absolutely no issues. As of yesterday HD files are struggling to stream, they keep freezing every 5 seconds or so, not buffering just freezing for a few seconds.

I have moved files to my desktop and streamed them to my PI with no problems, so there is nothing wrong with the PI. It appears to be something wrong with my media server. I have tried the files on multiple hard drives within the server and the same issue occurs. I have changed the network cables connecting my media server, same issue. I have streamed the films directly to my desktop PC from my media server without using XBMC with no issues. I have also flashed the PI to factory settings...same problem.

Completely stumped. No idea why this has just randomly started occuring, any ideas would be great

Check loading of the servers resources? CPU/Network/Memory.

Is there something else running on the server which is taking up capacity?

How are you streaming them? Just as samba or nfs file shares? Or dlna, plex etc?

Ive had similar issues when trying to play with an unsupported audio codec. But your testing appears to rule this out.

CPU usage seems fine, not overly stressed.

Networking peaks a slight bit each time it freezes, but nothing out of the ordinary

Nothing else really running, the only thing its used for is media storage and torrenting, but I have had torrents disabled for the last week.

They are shared as SMB and have been ever since I installed it.

Restarted your router/hub?

Yup :(
