just used a 360 demo pod for the 1st time ever 2day. played topspin2 which i already have. MY god the picture was bad, whats wrong with these consoles or TV's, the jaggies were huge and it looked worse than on my poo tv at home.

People without 360's, dont judge a 360 on these demo pods

Thats weird as the pod that I saw (before the 360 was released) was amazing. IIRC it was showing COD2, maybe it was just a naff TV/Cable?

On that note I got a nice Samsung LCD TV today for my 360. :p

Its really strange, I've found the pods a little hit/miss. Maybe someone is going round setting them to 480p?

Thats what I always assume when folks say the pods look terrible.

They must be using a component connection in the pods (dosnt make sense to use anything else), so really theres very little regarding the image quality that can be mucked around with, apart from colour setup on the TV or selecting either 480p, 720p or 1080i on the 360.

I have found that the VGA connection into my TV gives the best picture quality, component looked rubbish.

What does VGA output at 480/720/1080i?

Perhaps the switch on the side of the cable is at the wrong setting. I believe this changes it to a composite connection when using the component cable.

Thats not what I meant, VGA does indeed give a 'sharper' image, but from my own experience it makes the colours look washed out.

My point was that the most common sense connection for use in a demo pod would be component, and my guess is that MS would use this.

All the major game shops in Bristol have demo pods which look terrible, like there running with composite or in 480p, the same person probably did all the ones in the area. I tried to get into the display settings but of it was locked, there not a very good advert for the console.

I asked someone around my area why his picture looked so much better on his pod than anywhere else, he said it was set up wrong and he changed it.

They could be using the xbox core which don't come with a component cable cable..

Can any of you see if it is a component cable or scart that goes into the back of the screen..Or can you not see the back of the screen on the pods?

We do not have any pods over here in guernsey of what i know of..One of the shops just use there 42" philps plasma for there demo.

You can't see the pack of the screen. My guess it to stop you putting your fingers behind it and pulling like hell until you have a new TV.

They have to use Premiums because of the HD. They install some special software to it (and possibly a special firmware too?).

I played on NFS:MW on one a while back and didn't really notice any aliasing or anything wrong - looked pretty damn good to me.
