I have a 360 running on a normal TV through the composite cable into a SCART socket. I tried running in 60hz because a game demo (THPS Project 8) needed it, and it displayed it in black and white. I assumed this meant that the TV didnt support 60hz because its a pretty old TV. However my friend says this means I just need to use an RGB SCART cable instead of the composite. Does anyone know if thats correct? Reason I ask is I dont really want to buy the £15 cable if its not going to fix the issue.

Thanks for any replies. :)

Have you seen the cable, because usually the cable you get with a PS2 has 3 plugs, yellow, red and white, going into a converter then a scart socket. Thats a composite cable like Im using. If theres 3 plugs but they are red blue and green, thats an RGB I believe, or HD but if you had HD it would be ok in 60hz anyway im pretty sure.

Not quite. The three plugs that are red blue and green are component- MUCH higher quality than composite.

There is a lot of misinformation going on in this thread.

You have 4 methods of connecting your 360 to a tv

Composite - Yellow plug for video + red and white plugs for stereo audio. Usually coupled with a Scart adapter (THIS IS NOT TRUE SCART)

RGB Scart - A single cable with a moulded scart plug at one and and a 360 connector at the other, also carries the audio built in. Best way to connect to an SDTV (normal non high def)

Component - Red Green and Blue plugs + red/white audio. For plugging into compatible High Definition sets. Best overall connection i believe.

VGA - Cable similar to a monitor cable, for plugging into some high def screens and also standard PC monitors, good interim connector for those without component input.

Hope that clears things up
