Hey all,
originally had one on preorder for launch day but it got cancelled about a week or two before launch.

its been a long time since launch now and the line up of titles seems pretty impressive.

i'm mainly an FPS, sports, and racing style gamer - but i'll play anything thats in front of me if its good :)

i've got a 26" HannsG HD LCD tv... so i can play and appreciate HD content.

i've recently seen the 360 premium with Gears of War (a game i originally had on preorder for launch - big fan of Unreal series and really want to see what they can do with Gears of War) and WWE Smackdown 2007 for around £290.

i've already got a Wii and think its great fun - but a bit more of a party console than something i can play every day.

so is it worth shelling out the cash on a 360?

yes!

i love mine, i have not had so much fun online with rainbow six vegas since i used to play enemy territory on the PC

get one!

:)

i'd say so i really enjoyed having one just waiting till got enough cash to replace it 1 thing though theres talk of the new one comming out so i'd wait a month to see if any news is released about this .

I'm considering the same myself, I did have one but sold it on cause I needed the money and now I regret it as because I work shifts I have a lot of time of when I can't just go out with my mates etc. I'm only a casual gamer but am considering picking one up tomorrow from a high street store for £314.99 inc PGR 3, that wrestling game, any other game and a wireless controller.
Not a bad deal at all.....but then I think well if I'm going to shell out £315....why not shell out £450 and try a PS3

oh sorry, forgot to mention - at this point in time i have no internet connection in my flat. (no phoneline)

should be getting on installed in the coming months though.

so at the moment - online gaming isn't that important to me.

as long as me and the misses can have a laugh :p

I used to be a pc gamer and spent a fortune on upgrading graphic cards etc.
Then i bought a 360 and hardly ever use the pc for games anymore.
To me the 360 was worth every penny.
The 360 has now got some great games and there are lots more to come this year.
Also as the 360 has been out for a while now you can pick up second hand games at very cheap prices now.
Get a 360 and go on live and have some great fun.

Yep definitely worth it.

It definitely has its flaws, and in some respects it's obvious that it's come out much earlier than the PS3, but overall its a great piece of kit.

go for a 360 its a excellent console with a good price tag plenty of games that'lll keep u occupied till u get it online then your'll have xbl which is brilliant.

Despite it's obvious flaws, it's still a great console. I would recommend getting one from an actual shop if possible, and keep your receipt. Then if/when it goes wrong you can change it easily.

Some great games available now.

Dont forget though you are getting 3 games with the 360 for your £315.
How much is a ps3 with 3 games.

Honestly, yes, get one!

TDU & PGR 3 are great racers, along with burnout for drunken fun :D

I was in the same boat, but i had an original xbox, and really didn't get along well with it and sold it pretty soon after, i had a certain nervous stigma when i bought the 360 instead of an excitement, but now i'm really happy i got it, great fun, great games, live (when you get your phone line sorted etc..) is great fun and adds new depth to games :)

I'd 100% say yes mate :) and i'll play you on Smackdown one day! :D

I love my 360. Really do. It invigorated a tired old PC gamer and I can honestly say in 2006 I had probably my best year of gaming ever. There are some truly great games out, and most an now be had at a great price. It then has probably the best line-up of games in 2007 I've ever seen (Bioshock, Halo3, Forza 2, Assassins Creed, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Too Human, Two Worlds, Virtua Fighter 5, DMC4, Army of 2 etc etc).

I like playing games coop with the mrs as well; Lego Star Wars II and Marvel have tickled us though she's now completely addicted to Oblivion. (I can't get on some nights).

Plus, despite the reliability woes there are actually a lot of consoles still going strong. Mine's 15 months old and hasn't had so much as a splutter.

I can't recommend one enough.

seems a unanimous yes so far

last few questions really...

are there still reliability issues with it?

whats the noise factor like? (say, compared to a PS2 or a Wii)
i hear its still pretty loud.

One of the advantages of the 360 is that a lot of the launch/early games are now available for between £10 and £15.
PGR 3, Gun, Tomb Raider, Kameo, Oblivion, Condemned to name a few.
All of these are very good games and a real bargain (although Oblivion might not quite have come down in price enough yet).

Reliability issues have pretty much been sorted, im on my 2nd which was part of the batch after the original where they tweaked a few things and its absoloutely fine!

As for Noise, dont notice mine, but they have just released the BenQ DVD Drive which is meant to be very quiet, not sure if your gonna def get one of these, but my Hitachi is pretty quiet too :)

Not really with new consoles. Most the issues imo have been with early adopters and then getting refurbished old models. Wth a new one and a years warranty I wouldn't worry.

It's not quiet, let's put it this way. I have mine in my lounge under the main TV and I don't notice it. Plus it's only when playing games the DVD drive really speeds up and it's noisy. In the dashboard, playing arcade games, using the media center and playing DVDs the unit is pretty quiet. (I use mine as my main DVD player now).

Agreed. Got my 360 three months ago and haven't looked back. PS3 is a bit too pricey and can't really be compared to the 360's current back catalogue. I don't use Live as much as I thought I would but that hasn't reduced my enjoyment at all.

I've not had any reliability issues with the exception of a couple of crashes. It is a surprisingly noisy when the DVD drive spins up.
