Hi,

will the following work as i need to connect my xbox 360 up to my 1 meg connex (have a usb alcatel 330 modem): if i bought the Belkin Gigabit PCI Network Adaptor (F5D5005EA) (NW-030-BE) and connected the ethernet cable from my xbox 360 to the above card i would be able to connect the xbox 360 live via the connection on my pc ......

is this correct as im a total noob at networks... :(

thx

Yes. You'd also need to run ICS, and have the machine on for the Xbox to get an internet connection. Debatable if you really need a gigabit card either, if all the xbox is going to be doing is using the internet connection.

The alternative's a router.

Start here then go here.

A router would save you having your PC on all the time (PC is host for connection)
If you don't want to mess with cables, get a wirless router and the wirless thing that plugs into the Xbox.
I set one up for someone the other day, and it works a treat.

Think the USB thing for wireless that goes into the Xbox is dear, but have to say it's a doddle to set up.

Okay, i bought a PCI network adaptor and have plugged the xbox360 ethernet cable into that. My usb adsl connection is on also. Once i turn the xbox360 on i get a msg saying the LAN is connected at 100MBps. I have enabled ICS in xp pro beforehand. When i test the xbox live settings i get conf irmation that the network adaptor is wired, however i fail on the "IP Address" bit and cannot continue.

Any ideas on what im doing wrong??

well from the above, this morning i tried deleting the PPPoE info i entered into my xbox 360. I now pass the IP Address (Confirmed) but fail the next check, DNS.....anyone know whats happeneing????

I did notice something that may be coausing the prob though. From the connection for my ADSL connection in netwoirk places i can "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection", but in the advanced tab for the LAN connection there is only the settings for the windows firewall.

*embarassed*

Think it was zonealarm that was stopping me from connecting. Just shut down zonealarm and it all worked. Guna try NFSMW and PGR3 online now. Was getting kinda worried as this stuff is suppossed to be simple. Stupid me :(
