Hi

I have a computer that recieves a wireless network via a usb wireless adapter. Can I connect an xbox 360 to the ethernet port of said computer and allow it to access the network... It would save on me splashing out on a wireless adapter for the xbox

The simple answer is not easily....

Although you can share out your network connection on the PC in question using a proxy if your windows version supports it.

In most iterations of windows, its called Internet Connection Sharing I think - but I really wouldn't recommend it.

This can be done using 2 PC's never tried it with a PC and an Xbox. I'd give it a go! Just right click on your wireless connection and share it, go through the wizard and then plug your xbox in.

Nothings gonna go bang so the worste thats gonna happen is it doesnt work.

Rubbish.

ICS on XP with an Xbox works just fine.

Here is one link to help, thousands of others about.

I'm sorry we're going to disagree but ICS is total pap. It might get you out of a fix but for all sorts of reasons its vastly inferior to a dedicated connection for each machine:

If the host machine is off, no ICS.

If the host machine has an issue with network connection, no ICS.

Firewalling and opening ports for anything on ICS is a total hardship....

I'd just by the adaptor for the 360, its not like its expensive or anything.

Whereas i agree with sidethink - ICS is useful in certain situations, this being one of them.

Thanks for the advice.... however if I can spend a couple of hours of my time in order to save £60 then I'll certainly do it... I think the wireless adapter for the xbox 360 is overpriced to be honest.

Aye go with ICS, its all ive ever used for my 360.. whether from wireless or wired..

The only thing with ICS is you often cant just let all the connections be automatic, ive found that doesnt work. So you'll have to manually choose.

Yes apparently simply bridging the two adapters was the best solution.... By best I mean it only took me a couple of clicks and everything seems to be working fine!
