XBOX 360 optical dongle mod help

ok i have logitech z-5500 have my pc ps3 connected fine, also have my 360 connected but its using optical like ps3 so switching them all the time is a pain. now i know i can get a optical switch box but i cant even be arsed switching that all the time.

on the logitech control pod i have a digital coax connector doing nowt, then i see this mod check it http://www.warnockinc.com/www/?q=node/18

now what puzzles me is the last four pics, well forget the last one the three before. now im pretty sure i can hack the 360 optical dongle and get the two optical wires(signal and ground out) what im miffed about is that red rca/coax style connector with the two wires coming out. i need this!! now its not a rca lead because i have some and theres only one wire with rca leads, its not coax either because the mid coax wire is solid copper and the pic shows normal type wires.

Do you have both the ps3 and xbox on at a the same time or just one or the other? If you have only one or the other you could just do what I've done and buy one of these to link both to your speakers: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-WAY-OPTICAL...ctronics_PowerAdaptors_SM?hash=item563515b25f

(Please note the splitter is directional and CANNOT be used to feed two outputs to one input.)

aha very tempting because no need to switch, i never really have them on both at the same time, maybe when downloading. really want a coax tho, just need to know what the red connection rca type thing is

I think he's just bodged it using some connectors/wires lying in his junk box.

It should just be a standard RCA / Phono socket or plug. I'd use a socket & hot glue it onto the case so you could use a standard plug-to-plug cable
