Bill Gates opens the 40th Ann CES show next week...

Id presume we will hear more juicy news during the show even if its not directly from the boss man.

Mine's not loud, and why do you have to have the AC on? The cooler in the 360 is fine, so it gets hot, doesn't mean it's going to die if it did I don't think MS would have it on the market.

I take it you've missed the constant threads talking about consoles overheating? having the AC is a GOOD idea.

Where have you been, the 360's are dropping like flies all over the shop, ppl are onto 6+, the things are dying left right and centre.

Have a  for that one.

Makes you wonder, WHY are people on six, when loads of us are still on our original console?

Heats the factor. Could be as simple as the people with the dying boxes have their thermostats set higher than others :p

Could be positioning, Too close to the fire? Too close to the radiator? Or over a warm spot on the under floor heating.

But as said, a lot are dying unfortunately. I want a 360, But If there's a version 2 on the horizon. I'll be waiting for it. :)

More than likely down to people sticking them in the slot in the TV cabinet which is normally reserved for DVD player and alike. I put my PS3 in one of these originally and it was getting REALLY hot, once I popped it on top of the cabinet though it's actually not hot at all.

I would like to put it back in the slot if poss as it would be tidier (keep the misses happy etc) and I was toying with the idea of making some sort of usb powered cooling for the area... maybe I could convet one of those laptop coolers or something - Hmmm.

Could also be that when you send an Xbox back to MS, they send you another buggered refurbished model, meaning it'll be more likely to die, but that's just a guess by me, and probably would explain why so many replacements die on people, and why so many people are still on their first faultless 360.

I dont think I would get a 120GB unless it was £50, its £60 for 20GB, I all use it for is demos and unless they add downloaded hd shows them maybe but 120GB for demos.

I dont have a HDMI tv yet so that doesnt bother me.

But who's to say that's solely because of overheating =/

Yes I did miss them, but how can you tell if it's overheating? just because hot air is coming out the back isn't a good way to tell.

maybe a silly question but why does anybody want a larger hdd apart from to store mp3's maybe

i dont understand why the console apart from mp3s and demos uses very little hdd space but yet people want massive drives?

Live is supposed to be getting movie downloads and some IPTV service with PVR functionality, obviously if your getting your LOST fix via a pay download service you'll probably want the space to store it

Yes looks like we are going to get IPTV.

Bill Gates and Robbie Bach are expected to announce at the Consumer Electronics Show that Microsoft has sold more than 10.4 million Xbox 360s since the launch in November, 2005. That means Microsoft has also hit its targets for sales of consoles during the holidays.

Microsoft is also dropping something of a bomb at the show. Jim Brady, a spokesman for Microsoft, said Gates and Bach will say in the keynote speech Sunday night at the Venetian Hotel that the Xbox 360 will be able to serve as a set-top box for IPTV, or Internet protocol television. The details on this announcement are sketchy and Brady says only that it will appear later this year.

Looks like the 360 is going to be a better media centre than the ps3.
