Hello,

I have just got my first HDTV and its great.

Connected my 360 and been playing in HD for the first time, i am connected to the TV with the supplied cable (component i think its called)

I have been told for my HDTV (Hyundai A321) the best way to connect it is with the "Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable"

Does using the VGA cable throw up any problem when gaming or watching DVD's ? or is it just as simple as the component connection.

Also how does the sound work on the VGA cable, i am not using any seperate sound just the speakers connected to the HDTV that came with it.

Thanks Ben

If you are already using component, you're not going to notice a massive difference in quality, they are very similar, and some people rate the component over the VGA cable, others the other way around.

Sound on the VGA cable is the same as on the component, two phono cables, red/white.

I'd personally stick with component, as there are still a few issues with some games depending upon resolutions used, and there are other issues with backwards compatible games as well not supporting some things. Component should generally be hassle free for you.

Thanks for the info.

From what i have read about my HDTV, VGA is the best for image quailty.

Just worries me abit about games having issues. Can you state what games ?

I dont care about playing old Xbox 1 games so that wont me a problem.

Thanks Ben

hi.
you will not have problems with 360 games using vga.
i use vga with my samsung lcd hd tv.great picture.
you only have problems with old xbox games only running at 50 htz.
cheers ian.

I am a much bigger fan of Component than VGA, I prefer the clarity and colours. Also, I've never had any problems on Component, better than changing 50/60Hz or getting resolutions squashed (a la Tomb Raider or Project Gotham Racing 3).

i dont get resolutions squashed or poor colours using vga.
also i have tried component and prefer vga picture as it is much sharper.
resolution on my setup is 1280 by 768 the proper setting for my tv.
gotham racer3 is great it was to dark using component.
lots of people on the forums used to complain about pgr3 being to dark using component.
i have 10 xbox360 games and all of them display properly.
on the last xbox dash upgrade the slightly washed out colour on vga was put right, thats why i went back to vga.
he also said he would not be playing old xbox games.

the debate about which is best will go on forever because it depends on which tv or display you are using.
cheers ian.

Also has a digital out, well mine does.

I was using component through my TV card on PC (I dispise portable TV's), upgraded to VGA the other week and wouldn't look back.

Been out and brought the VGA cable today :)

Picture does seem a lot shaper which i am happy about.

All i have done is connect the VGA cable, booted the 360 and changed the res to 1360x768 :)

Is that all i have to do ? it is running in HD mode now ??

Thanks Ben
