Xbox Live Account Hacked

About 8 weeks ago now i received a couple of emails from Microsoft, the first confirming that I have changed my region from the UK to Poland, and the second confirming a £51 purchase of Xbox live points. Neither of which were anything to do with me. I immediately rang Microsoft, who opened a fraud investigation, and my bank, who returned the money to me within a week. During my initial phone call with Microsoft I was advised that it could take up to three weeks to return the account to me, however it shouldn’t really take that long.

Well, after eight weeks and numerous phone calls I am no closer to getting my account back. Anytime I ring up I get fobbed off with a story of how the account will be back to me within the week, then a week later after nothing has happened I ring back to be sold the same line. After the first four weeks passed I did receive an email from Microsoft with a one month Xbox live code to play on, however this wasn’t much use as I don’t really want to start games from scratch, and cant be bothered to go around adding friends again when apparently my account will be returned 'any day now'.

I'm just posting here to see if anyone has had similar issues with their Xbox live account being compromised and if so how long did it take for them to be resolved. Also do folks think that it would be worthwhile to put in a complaint of some form as I think eight weeks is stupidly excessive, or would I just be wasting my time?

*edit*
Just as a side note, I havent got a clue how my account details got hacked, my password wouldn't be easily guessed and I use different variations of passwords for almost all accounts that I have online.

I've just been through a 360 hack saga. I have control of my account now, but am waiting for a £95 refund as the hacker went on a spending spree. It's been a nightmare, lost all my friends too.

The games etc. that were bought I get to keep as well as being fully refunded, shame they didn't have the same taste in games as me... I'll probably never play them.

My advice is to not keep a payment method on your account, if a hacker really wants to get into your account they more than likely will unfortunately.

We'll Im still waiting. Getting pretty narked with it now. When it first happened I never thought it would take this long to sort out. It annoys me as I would be playing GOW 3 now as well as fifa, battlefield and modern warfare in a few weeks. I rang microsoft again this week and got fed the same rubbish as every other time I have spoken to them. I feel an email/letter of complaint coming on, although I doubt I would ever recieve a response.

Biz.Kid09 I did speak to my account when it became apparent what had happened at the start, they refunded me within ten days. Microsoft, well, its now 8 weeks and counting....

You can just go into "my account" on xbox.com & then payment options, As a rule ever since I've had my 360 I've never kept my card details on it.
Unfortunately this doesnt work. Just tried to delete my only credit card and it points me to Payment method information. Brilliant

I had it happen to me a couple of months ago. They were pretty lame about it really, and tried to make out that it was from my being insecure. They told me there would be an investigation that would take 30+ days after which I'd be informed if I was entitled to a refund. My account was locked for the duration, and they told me they could not remove my card details as they were necessary for the investigation.

It's really spoiled my view of Microsoft/XBL support to be honest.

Just spoke to the supervisor of the fraud team at Microsoft and 2 Months after I reported the hack it looks like the refund will come through tomorrow.

I got 2months gold membership, but asked for points as a goodwill gesture. I'll see what happens. Thing is, I bought a PS3 while I had no access to live(30days), and after messing about with Playstation Home and playing some of the PS3 exclusives(in 3D), and at last realizing that I much prefer the pad, I think my 360 might get dusty.

This has certainly left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I told them so.

Still didn't get a written apology...
