xbox live - worth paying for?

Depends what game you plan on playing on live, some games still have a lot of people who are online most of the time.

Also if you are going to get live get it from jasper1675.com or w/e it's called

If you can get a cheap sub then sure :)
If not and you will rarely play it (less than twice a month) then it's not really worth it. Unless of course you download demos and things which I am not sure but I believe Gold Members still get some updates before silver members

I barely play online but still feel it's worth it based on the times I do, coupled with the deals that are currently released on a weekly basis for Gold subscribers....

Definitely worth it, if you get a 12+1 card for ~£30ish, then you'll be paying ~£2.50 a month, if you go on 5 nights a month and have 4 fun hours online, thats about 10p/hour!

Good value and well worth it, imho!

If you've got friends you can play with and you don't own a PS3 then yes, if you've got a PS3 and have friends that don't play on XBL then it's not worth it.

Thats how I think about it.

Thinking ooo £30 a year to play online seems quite expensive. But looking at it from how little it is per day it seems very cheap ;)

Depends what games you would play. Call Of Duty for example, people have bought Xbox's just to play this game online :)

Only game really worth it is Street Fighter, nothing on 360 is on par with the likes of the original Ghost Recon multiplayer (from Xbox)

Shooter wise that is, I never played many other types of games online.

Thee are loads of games worth playing over live, it's just personal preference. CoD 4 is still great.

Yeah but nothing deep though, nowadays they just overdo auto aim ala CoD4.

The online setup of CoD4 is great, but the auto aim is way over the top it's ridiculous, it doesn't feel skillful.

Ghost Recon however, no aim assist, 3 shots and you were dead, having to use binoculars to scout out enemies, getting hit meant slower movement speed and decreased aiming, they were the days!

From how you describe Ghost Recon it sounds like an enjoyable game if you're a masochist. I played Ghost Recon in 2003 and it was carp then.
the fact that some people are good at CoD 4 and some are bad suggests there is some skill involved in excelling at it.

I just hate paying for Live to have countless ads shoved in my face with no option to change it. I might have to make it my life goal to get them to changer the default channel to My Xbox!!!!! I know that would be sad :D
