So HDR TV is on the list, limit is 1000 ideally , can be flexible if it is truelly one good TV, any recommendations? ideally would like 120hz too, but that would not be a killer.
Ill be having a play tonight on the X updated tittles. pc monitor is 3440x1440p 144hz, so my TV hasnt had a lot of love these days, the xbox is the route back to that alas working from home means i never leave the desk otherwise. wife would like to see more of me haha.
Besides the lack of any killer new games the pad is the most disappointing thing for me. Even without the haptics etc. the PS5 pad just feels so much better.
The materials, shape, weight and definitely the buttons are way ahead of the Xbox controller.
I hope a new Elite may be released which improves things as for any multi platform games I'd much rather play on my PS5.
Problem is, if a 120hz HDR TV is essential to fully appreciate the console that makes a £450 console, £1450.120hz>HDR>>>4K
HDR and 120hz drastically change the experience while the bump from 1440p to 4K isn’t even physically discernable to the human eye for most people’s viewing distance.
1080p to 1440p/4K is more is a noticeable jump though, but that also generally came with more detailed geometry and effects too so it’s hard to be impartial when comparing.

I'm playing on a 1080p Panasonic
Most sets do not have 120hz, the 4K TVs most people have will be rubbish, the HDR constant ratio will be pretty dire and therefore you won't get the full effect. Not really, most people already have 4k hdr tvs for movies/TV. Most sets have 120hz.

Exactly. I’m convinced most people who think they’re playing in HDR are really not because of their 400 nit display. OLED people excepted.
This also applies to OLED owners who just copy settings from the internet instead of properly calibrating their displays, they’re missing out on a lot that these OLEDs have to offer.
Get a 55" minimum. You can never have to big a TV!Spare a thought for me who is gaming on an old Samsung 720p lcd tv lol.
But regardless I don’t regret buying my series x. At some point this yr I will be upgrading to a better screen, it’s just finding one at is decent and a good size. I’m tempted to get the 48” OLED from LG but seeing as there might be a 42” I might wait for that. Although it’s not going to be cheap but that’s what you pay for being first in getting new tech.
So far all the games I have played on my series x have been excellent. So not one iota of regret on my part.
I have the series x and ps5 and both look amazing graphically on my LG CX oled at 120hz...But gameplay is so much better on a decent monitor imho.
Im running the series x on a samsung g7 odyssey at 120hz/1440p and the games run so much nicer and smoother and are much more snappy!
If I buy an expensive telly I don't think I should have to pay some bloke to come round and calibrate it just to make it look like it should. Or spend hundreds on specialist equipment to do it myself.
How is gameplay better on a decent monitor vs playing on an OLED?
