So my controller still has an issue with the A key...need to speak to MS.

DID many go for the warranty? Is the deal still available?

Yes , I went for it and I think it is still available . You need to phone them /live chat them though. You can use reward points/ms gift cards to buy it too, so it barely ended up costing me anything in actual money!

Definitely worth it i think, even just for the controllers as I've had two different ones with the sticky right trigger fault.

But if you press the 3 lines button and quit everything when downloading something on the MS store the speed significantly increases.

Normally it’s around 70-90mbps
But if you quit everything I pull around 450mbps not sure why, but it works!

dont feel bad, I have been playing previous gen games, treat it as like an upgraded PC, you upgrade to play your existing games better.

I played some more ff15 last night, and my PC is now jealous lol, the loading times are superb, and this game isnt even optimised for X/S. Yes the resolution is lower, but the framerate is super stable, and the loading times are unreal, in my opinion in practical terms the loading time benefit easily outweighs the benefit of e.g. playing this game on a one X with higher resolution.

Its not available to the masses, only for those who brought from microsoft, I did manage to get in writing from amazon though a 2 year warranty. I think those who reply saying they got it need to explain they brought it direct from microsoft.

Yes to both.

For Quick Resume, the console dumps the contents of the RAM to a reserved partition on the SSD. The location where the games are stored makes absolutely no difference.

The system reserves bandwidth just in case running games need it. Bit of a crude solution, but at least it stops problems with downloads causing lag in games.

It has a very aggressive throttling algorithm which has been reported on the insiders hub app. The cpu should be powerful enough to handle less aggressive behaviour, it feels like they just ported this behaviour from the jaguar console.

My downloads throttle to adsl speeds (about 4-6mbps) if I am doing anything with my controller, I have to let it sit idle to get anything resembling reasonable.

We have 2 consoles in the house, sons and mine
His is set to the home console so he can play anytime, i then log into mine , we both share my gold for xbox

Hey mate,
So just to confirm, I should login to my xbox with my brother in laws account, sign up for gold and set the xbox as his 'home'. He will never play games or own another xbox just as an FYI.
Then if I login to the same xbox with his sons account (childs account) he will have gold as well?

The xbox is only ever going to be used by his son, my brother in law will only ever use the xbox to authorize any games/payments etc.

Steam it is optional.

My ps4 pro throttles to about 20mbit/sec if a game is running, not to dialup speeds.

Its even worse then I typed actually, its 200kbit/sec, it goes down to, so about 4x dialup speed. (I thought was 200-400kByte).

I get 25-30Mbps instead of 100-120Mbps.

Bought Control Ultimate ready for the X upgrade in Feb - with the proceeds of the Cyberpunk refund while on offer.

Meanwhile, my goodness Gears 5 is great and I’m only on Act 2.

Downloads are capped to 30mb/s when games are running to guarantee storage access performance.
 
Does anyone have this weird "flickering" issue on textures that I'm having withy series x? For example on the pause screen on fifa when the camera pans slowly the pitch (more noticeable on the running track around the pitch) will kind of flicker, another example on skyrim, standing still is fine but as soon as I move forward the trees and sky will flicker, or change rapidly from dark to light

If thats happening on multiple games you might have defective hardware.

can you get a capture of it so we can see exactly what you mean please?
