well i finally got round to attempting to fit my zalman cooler (about 4 months since i bought it) - but i seem to have run into a problem.

im probably just being stupid, but the xfx fan appears to be held in place by screws that are glued in place - is this normal? am i missing something?

i know it must be possible to fit the zalman onto this card as i see other people mention thats how theyre set up.

kinda... i mean, it shows what i was doing is right, but theres just no way can i get the screws out. if i try much harder ill end up putting the screwdriver through the board... ive had a look, and the screws in step 4 of that guide definately appear to be glued in place.

The screws have glue around them so the manufacturer knows if the stock cooler has been taken off, because when you undo the screws the glue falls off.

So if you need to send the card for an RMA chuck the cooler back on and hope they dont notice lol.

make sure you have a good fitting screw driverThen just give it some initial light force. Those screws are tough but itll give it up.

yeah i noticed that some of the glue was red and i figured it would be so they could tell if it'd been removed.

i guess ill just have to give it another go. maybe find a longer screwdrive, as the only one i could find small enough is too short for my hand...

A proper fitting jewlers screw driver from the 1 pound shop.(not a direct competitor)
hold the screw driver with some serated needle nose electric pliers(i pound shop, again)
hold the screw driver flush with just your thumb.
that way you control the force by use of a "T" handle
