Picked this up last week for the new build. However the new build is project so im in no rush to complete with a white and blue theme. The backplate is so large and black it would just stand out. So I wanted to change it...

Therefore removed the backplate today and I was not exactly impressed with the XFX pad placement as some are literally just missing some chips.

However the pads they have used are these disgusting soft pads, which seem to saturate into the board. Any tips for cleaning these? especially the main chipset?

Well in my Ifixit kit it came with a small scraper/shovel item, that was easy for the large ones and just very gently slid off. However it worries me more about the capacitors in the centre!
