XFX 7900 GTX 512Mb

Yes it supports shader model 3 and should be able to play
airborne at a decent quality with decent frames. The main thing
it won't support in airborne is dx10 but for now dx10 ain't giving
a great deal better visuals over dx 9.
 
I got 1759 on 3DMark' 06 with the X800XL 256Mb
Just cleaned out (driver sweeper), installed the XFX 7900GTX 512Mb with latest drivers from nVidia.......5160 Marks!

What do people think...how could i get more 3D performance?? nTune???

I appreciate your advice, as always.
 
Tbh if i was you i would get a new mobo that supports core 2 duo
and go that way with a new cpu. Would be better posting in that section
to get a good combo and the correct price you want to pay. These things
don't need to be expensive either.

Yup, get a low end Core 2 Duo and overclock the hell out of it.
 
Seems like a reasonable idea...but TBH i wouldn't feel confident with the software side of things....bios, creating a restore disk, etc...i could do the practical (actual physical install) tho.
