XFX GeForce 8800GS 384MB any good?

Wouldn't it be similar to the 8800GTS 320MB? To do with the lack of memory at least, I'm not too sure what core the 8800GS uses.

personaly id say stay clear of XFX. Absolutly terrible RMA service, you can wait 6 months. There are many horror storys lol.

As for that and aa. id say no as the memory is just not big enough but i could be wrong as ive not really looked into the GS cards.

fraps if you can afford it, get a 8800GT 512Mb. They're the best bang for buck right this moment imo. If you can pick which company you buy from aswell, I'd defenitley go with BFG - they're excellent from my experience. I've had a BFG 7800 GT OC card running nicely for the last 2 years now.

Doesn't the GS have only a 192-bit memory interface as well? It seems a bit budget to me....dunno about pricing but for around £100 the radeon 3850 is the best bet.

if thts the case id take the 3850 and overclock them as they are ment to overclock quite well. get the 512mb ansd overclocked and you should be able to do some aa. But the ATI cards do get hammered on the aa, it seems to be their downfull. (as far as i know and im going on old benchmarks as i dont check them reguarly)

yes, I think I'll leave this one and wait a bit, 8800GT/ GTS 512 is a bit pricey - 100 is my limit and I am in two minds about 3850 512 (good card but is it really a massive difference from what I've got)

may be the 3870 will drop in price...

9600 might be good...

for the £100 mark, a 3850 would be great, and yeah it is a step up from a 1900xt, as far as I know a 3850 is around twice the speed of a 1900XT plus some other features.

as mentioned above the 3850 OC'd is a good card for the money. Gecube 512mb Xturbo edition can be had for around £110 too :)...i am really tempted with that for next machine
