Ideally, the 6870 shouldn't be over £200 to begin with if it's competing with the 1gb 460. Early adopters premium or not.

Guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Does anyone else NOT like these recent 'shelled' graphics card looks? Why the plastic casing? I wanna see GADGETRY! Bit and bobs, circuitry, memory chips, heatsinks - the lot!

Some children will be buying/installing these graphics cards, probably better that they don`t see this kind of thing at such a young age. I think you need to get your graphics cards from one of those "speciality" shops.

No need to upgrade for me, 5870 plays every game at max settings fine, but then I use my pc for a function not a bench mark hobby

The PCB of the HD6850 1GB looks shorter than an HD5850 1GB. Hopefully it will be comparable to an HD5770 or a GTX460.

looking at the benchies the 6850 is going after the 460 and the 6870 is going after the 470

I did read that it has a single 6 pin connector whilst the 6870 has 2....

It seems the HD6850 has 800 stream processors and the HD6870 has 960 stream processors.
