XIM2 or 3 for xbox 360

I think Arcade sticks do give you an advantage, they are laid out more efficiently, and are better mechanical designs for speed/accuracy of control, surely this is why they are so popular?

And as mentioned above, a Wheel can be an advantage in some driving games, and the example of F1 2010 is a good one.. Not only that, but a Fanatec wheel allows adjustments and a level of control above that of the standard MS Wheel (or any low level wheel), I can tell you it certainly does give you an advantage, I instantly improved all my laptimes when I got mine..

The XIM is however taking this to a higher level, but crucially it's available to everyone, and still works within the confines of the game's pointing system, so has the same response rates as a Pad, it's just that it's more intuitive to use for people..

Sounds like people being a bit sour tbh, if they 'must' finish above other people etc, just go and get an XIM yourself, in the same way that if you want to be competitive in F1 2010, you need to really buy a wheel..

:)

Maybe I don't want one? The whole point of me having a console is so that I can sit back with a pad and not have to lean forward to use a mouse. Why should my gaming experience be ruined just because people are too retarded to use a pad? If you want to use a mouse play your games on PC, I don't want people having an unfair advantage over me just because can't compete when using a pad.

And the arcade stick/wheel arguement doesn't apply either because they don't give an unfair advantage over people in these games, since they are officially supported and the games are designed to be used with these devices as well as pads.

As I've said before the Xim wouldn't bother me if they just switched off all the auto-aim/aim assist when a mouse is detected, but obviously that is never going to happen.

It doesnt bother me. So many people are getting the XIM3 when its launched its either like it or lump it. I can see how if you like to play competitively with a pad its a shame though.

And I guess I'd prefer this not to happen to consoles but its happening. And the product is very effective

It's the same for F1 2010 though, if you have the cash/time/space/want for a wheel, you can be quicker, if you stick to a pad on your Sofa, you aren't going to do so well..

I sometimes play FM3 with a pad on the sofa, and I totally suck at it, but I still play, even though I come very much further down the order, if I want to be competitive, I switch to a more competitive control/setup..

And I still don't agree on the Arcade stick, it's made to be more ergonomic and allow more efficient use of the controls, and by it's very nature is therefore going offer an advantage over using a standard controller, but it seems because it's somehow 'officially supported' that's OK, do they gimp the game a little if it detects an arcade controller to give pad users some parity? No, thought not..

:)

I would say that I am not so hot at FPS games on consoles, and even if I was rich enough to get an XIM etc, I'd still get my ass handed to me on a plate..

While I did start a thread about a year ago on this very subject I still haven't bought into it yet.

I have taught myself to use a pad and i am very satisfied with the feel and outcome of my efforts.. however I will still probably buy one of these devices as I feel more comfortable playing with a KB/M.. like actual physical comfort :)

However.. I know a lot of people are very opinionated on the use of these devices.. but I have to admit I am very impressed with what the development team have produced.. I know I couldn't do it.

The science behind the smart translators etc is incredibly interesting!

Its pretty much just one guy running the show. It is pretty impressive TBH.

This board is very much on the "its cheating" side, other boards not so much. I'm on the fence really. I dont feel that strongly about it. I'll be interest to see how much it improves the stats of people on my friends list.

Well you're wrong. The main reasons people use stick are so that they can play in arcade's and comfort.

^^^that's crazy and slightly annoying at the same time.

Xim3 + Astro A40 Headset the guy is a real OMA that set up is clearly unstopable, if he had not camped and had used the M16 of Famas he would have done a lot more damage.

This could be the new problem with Black Ops all the kiddies getting Xim3 who needs hacks when you can spin on a point with super accuracy in under half a second. Real game breaking right there!!

I notice that everyone complains about the Xim3 and I am surprised nobody ever mentions the headsets the Astro's give a massive advantage in the game just look at his second kill the only reason he knew the guy was there was because the headset gave up his position Xim3 or pad he would have had him. If you are using TV speakers you would have never have known his position. If the guy up top was using Astros he too would have heard this guy coming in through the back door of the warehouse.

Its true the astros help but to be honest a few of those kills anyone could have got using a steering wheel. But that video highlights everything thats wrong about using the keyboard and mouse on a console and everything thats wrong with modern warefare 2.

No different to when I'm using surround sound to play, I can still hear people from all directions. If they are using ninja it doesn't matter what headset you are using.

I agree with demon, although I might not like these devices coming along they are no different to the advantages given to people using wheels on f1 or arcade sticks. I wouldn't buy one but I wouldn't mind a go with one to see how good it is in comparison. That video did nothing for me I watch my nephew play quick scope and he hits people like that anyway. I'd like to see how good it is using other weapons.

£50 says you can't get those kills with a steering wheel :p

A claim you just cannot back up I doubt all the people in the street fighter thread bought Arcade sticks to put into arcades or comfort, they got it because the 360 pad is rubbish for those types of games. Clearly you cannot deny that.

It's widely known amongst the fighting game community that pads like the madcatz, saturn or PS2/3 do not hinder performance. In fact for some games like Tekken the pad is clearly superior. It's such common knowledge with FG fans that it's simply not worth debating this point with you.

Edit: Every member that I've come across on OcUK (including me) are terrible, terrible SF players, so our choice of pad/stick means nothing.

Yeah I notice you didn't say 360 pad, which is the pad I actually stated.

So then 360 game pad for fighting games or Arcade stick?

That's quite a different topic, as the 360 pad is the exception, rather than the "cheat device".

We are talking about one tool that artificially boosts performance, not one that is sub par.
