xonar dg 5.1 sound card.

hi i brought this sound card for my xbox 360 which is connected to my pc moniter. problem is i can get sound on my pc speakers in 2 channel mode but when i connect it up to the optical sound i get no sound what so ever.

any one have any ideas or help.

are you trying to run the sound from the xbox through your pc and then out of the speakers? cause i dont think that will work

optical cable from xbox to sound card. if i cant do that any ideas how i can get 5.1 sound working another way.

The optical is output only. You'd need either a Xonar D2/D2X, or an X-Fi Titanium to get optical input. Even then it would only be stereo. No sound card can decode 5.1 coming in via optical.

so would new speakers be the best way as an alternate way.
