Yes, upping the gain is fine. 64-150 ohm won't damage any headphones. It might be that even 600 ohm wont damage any headphones, but I'm not sure about that.
Cheers for the info m8

This hit and miss front panel detection is making me nervous, as it's the main reason I'm considering the card.
Seems that's hit and miss. I have seen a few comments that people couldn't get auto detect to work, but I have seen comments where it does work for some. I wonder if it's anything to do with Asus, and their CBA attitude to fixing their own drivers. The guy that did the Uni drivers, thought it was possible to get auto detect to work across all Xonar's with a front audio header. He couldn't do anything about it, as he said he requires the original coding. Can't see Asus giving it to him somehow. If it is fixable, then Asus are as useless as Creative when it comes to drivers.
Your English is fine. You type/speak better English than some English people I know.![]()
FP works flawlessly for me Robby G
update
I "fixed" front panel auto detection.
The funniest thingIt wasn't even plugged in the sound card
I forgot to unplugged it from motherboard and put it in the DG.Ooh well...better being my fault than Asus.
I realized that when I wanted to put DX in![]()
I was going to ask that anyone having problems with FP detection but I would have thought it was too silly...
Still, did anyone test the difference between E5 and DG's amp?
Got my E5 today, so worth it, still waiting on my goldrings but the sound is SO much better even on my ****ty headphones I can tell that it's a worthwhile investment.
With the E5 it gives the bass much more of a kick while keeping the rest of the music clear as well, which is the main thing I can notice. It sounds just in general clearer on all levels, but the bass is the thing that when you plug the E5 in you can distinctly tell that it's so much better than what you're used to hearing, sounds powerful.
Hard for me to describe not being a massive audiophile, but yeah. I'd get it, for something so cheap it makes such a difference.
Is the E5 a good addition to the DG and a set of DR50s? I certainly don't need any more volume from my DG, a bit more bass would be nice
I've set my DG (and Windows) to 6 channel (5.1 in Windows), DH1, 5.1 or home cinema in games, and Pro gamer mode. Afaik, DH is 5.1 so any more channels than 5.1 is no different???
Well both headsets I've used the E5 with gave a massive increase in bass quality and punch.
Pro-gamer mode? What's that? Is that the GX button? I changed to 6 channels and it does seem better in games, so I'll keep with that.
