XONAR DX - CRACKLY and one speaker :( - help !!!

hey all

could do with some help getting me new PCI-E Xonar Dx working

Win7 64 bit
Asus p8p67 mobo - onboard

It is installed in PCI-E ( 2 beneath graphics) - and floppy powered correctly from molex

windows detects ahrdware. have downlaoded the latest driver set for win7 64. it runs through install and then restarts

sound only comes through left speaker on 2.1 setup and there is a lot of crackling from the other speakers :(

what esle should i be looking for ?

You could try reseating the card, also make sure the power connector is inserted as fully as possible. If that does not improve things, you could try installing the drivers again, but uninstall them first.

If you still have no luck, then a faulty card is a possibility. There is a chance being so close to GFX cards would cause some interference, however it's unlikely that would result in sound from left only, and not right.
 
i am sure the card is in fully and likewise with the power - speakers are fine as i have teseted with onboard.

uninstalled and tried installing the setup it got to 99 % then message

please plug in asus xonar audio device!

restarted machine

same cracking sound from one channel and device manager has device listed there but no asus sound client installed - this must be where it broke. going to google but wanted to provide an update
 
yeah will try another slot now

i have tried just installing the driver direct from device manger rather then the .exe same result

will swap slots now to furthest away from graphics card

OMFG this sounds schweet - paired with acoustic energy aego m 2.1

the old addage is true - assume nothing and go back to the beginning when all seems lost

deleted everything - reset the card made sure it was screwed in tight , double check all connections

added the latest driver for win 64 .

configured speakers in windows - checked settings in asus client and bingo
