My creative labs extreme music has popped its clogs. I'm thinking of either the pci-e asus xonar DX vs creative labs fatality pro. I can get the pro for 82 and one of my requirements is a front header for headphones (goldrings) with speakers at rear (edifier 1600t). Creative feels like a safe bet but loads of people seem to rate the xonars. Usage is 80% games.

Cheers

Creative are generally regarded as better for games and the Asus for music. That said the sound on my DX is great in games with my NS-1000 with decent amplification.

The main reason I went Asus was the mess Creative make of drivers. Price being less was a bonus too.

I dont understand of all the fuss about ceative's drivers.

I have creative cards in 5 of my PCs and they are flawless... Always have been.

XFI Fatality in my main PC and Audigy , 2xAudigy 2 ZS and XFI Gamer and the only one thing is that the Joystick port wont work under Win7/64 but then who gives a monkeys.

I dont bother with creativies drivers, I just let windows do what it wants to do.

Job done.
