XP Home OEM - can anyone help?

Guys,

I have a Compaq Presario laptop that I am trying to repair and it is going to need wiped and a fresh install.

Problem is I don't have any discs and there doesn't appear to be a recovery partition.

Does anyone have an ISO that they could send me?

FYI of browsing mods - I have the COA sticker on the bottom of the lappy, so it's all above board, I just need the ISO in order to complete the install.

Just thought I'd mention I don't think a normal OEM disk will work as in the one you would buy from over clockers it would have to be a a OEM disk that was provided for a manufacturer.

I only say this as I know that I tried this myself with an old laptop and used the oem disk from my PC and it would not activate with that serial but I borrowed a friends DELL OEM disk and installed that, obviously it didn't activate because mine was a HP but I entered my serial and it worked.

I can give you a link to download XP with SP2 slipstreamed that you can burn to disk.

Have you tried pressing F2 on startup? I would get the manual down and have a read before doing anything.

Oh and what Presario have you got?

Go to MDLF (My Digital Life Forums) and get a copy of XP Home Edition SP3 OEM

Your better off with SP3 mind because it contains all the latest Service Pack updates for XP.

Diggsy, you might want to do this as I just realised that the copy on my server is XP Pro and you key will probably not work.

Thanks, found it on there, only issue is it's hosted on Hotfile, and I can only download one part every 30mins

Ah well, better than nothing I suppose

GAH!!! I got the first 5 parts last night, left the last part to do this morning, and the directory on Hotfile has been emptied!!!!

Does anyone have Part 6 anywhere?

Do a search in Google for the file name. It should reveal some mirrors to get it from.
