Hi all,

About a week ago, I got this pump/reservoir which I thought would be good for my watercooling needs.

Having read some mixed reviews, I was reluctant but went for it.

I've got the R2 version from what I can tell from the dimensions.

Over the past week, the pump has been doing a rattling noise when working.

I flushed it once and refilled (was accidental actually and water drained all over the mobo + graphics card, amazingly nothing was damaged)

I have filled the reservoir with distilled water and have been running it for the past 3 days to clear any bubbles.

I have tried shaking the reservoir vigorously while it's connected to the loop and running.

Tried turning the entire case upside down, tilted, still nothing.

The rattling noise is quite annoying. It sounds like a geiger counter spazzing. I can hear it even when standing outside the room.

I have a Lain D5 pump for my other pc and it runs silently compared to this.

Any advice what to do to fix this or is the pump just faulty?

Cheers,

Rara

Doesn't sound right. I have used countless XSPC 750 pump/res and they are usually very quiet. Unless the pump has become loose from the res or something within the pump has come loose, I can't imagine why it would be making that sound.

RMA time unfortuantly!

I have one of these. I wouldn't say it is silent but you definitely can hear it, its the loudest thing in my system really. The sound seems to resonate on the metal of the case for me, if I move it about slightly it goes quieter.

If it sounds like "a geiger counter spazzing" or is loud enough to hear outside the room then its definitely got some kind of issue. Mine is audible but bearable - certainly nowhere near that bad!

My XSPC 750 pump/res is coming upto 7months old, and it still very quiet can't hear it at all, RMA if its still under warranty. Mine is on the botton of the case held in place by 4 small L shaped brackets, with foam on the inside to absorb the slight vibration from the pump.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.

Just an update: I've RMAed the xspc pump and got it replaced.

The new one doesn't do a rattling noise but is still loud when active.

It sounds like a mini power generator. The XSPC pump alone sounds louder than my other pc which has 7 fans & a D5 pump working at the same time.

Have I replaced it with another faulty one or do they actually sound like that?

Rara

Try running it outside of the case like hlennie suggested to rule out vibration, my pump just sits on the bottom of the case but is considerably louder without anything cushioning it from the metal bottom.

I've just built a watercooling last night and have exactly the same problem.

****, I hate wasting my time sending things back. Now I need to buy a new one and then send it back... and get a refund :/

I need at least 750l/h, do you have any suggestions? What pumps, reservoirs/combos are the best?

PS. It's not the vibrations, it is the pump itself making that noise! I don't think I want anything from XSPC anymore :/

I originally had the same pump/res combo. I've swapped it out for an EK-DCP 4.0 pump (800l/h but has way better pressure head than the XPSC) and the XSPC Dual 5.25” Bay Reservoir (as I like having my res in the 5.25" bay). The two together cost about £77 so a pretty reasonable upgrade. Also as the pump is seperate it gives you a little more flexibility with the setup.

Can you hear that pump at all? Any vibrations? How do you have it set up?
Can you show me some pics please? ;)
