Finally after weeks of trying to find and IT Job that doesn't want experience and i've got an interview on Thursday @ 9am for the IT Support role for a large london stock brokers :D

Very excited, really wanna get out of my call centre Lloyds job as im so unhappy there, i know a lot of people moan about IT Support but after a year or 2 theres options to move elsewhere within the company :)

Other then maintaining eye contacting, being clear and confident (not over confident) in your answers, and being very enthusiastic what other tips can people offer?

Really want this role!

ah yes i do remember him posting that, will def take a lot -the agency that found helped me secure the interview have also supplied a nice pack aswell to help me. Im quite confident with it at the moment, but come Thurs im gonna be a wreck! lol

I'll level with you here. In IT Recruitment (as opposed to the practical bit of IT once you've actually got the job), buzzwords are king.

Get in some stuff about gigabit backbones, LES lines, service packs and autiting and the job is yours.

Rubbish.

If someone was spouting off buzzwords in an interview I was giving it'd be minus points!

This rolse has no server support, its gonna basically be stock brokers with problems ringing, so quite basic stuff at first, which is good because my degree focused a lot on programming rather then IT/Networking so it gives me the chance to train a bit more, however i am confident in general IT and OS Support - just got nothing official to show it :/

Bingo. Usually people stick to buzzwords when they don't actually know what they're talking about.

Thats why middle management use them ;)

I have had a phone interview already, i was the first phone interview of a total of 5, mine was on Friday and they rung back 4 hours later and confirmed the interview date, the other 4 phone interviews hadnt even taken place they took place on the following monday (yesterday). I think im the only one that has a degree who has gone for the role, i know that's not vital - but i feel it gives me a good edge. They also looking for someone with a professional phone and customer service skills, which is great as ive worked on the phone for 4 years and deal directly with Premier and Private banking customers and branch managers so know how to deal with people who want something done without hassle and need to be reassured

You and I unfortunately don't represent the managers of Britain who quite often have most of, or all the say in these situations :)

Whn I worked in a large office over the summer the managements constant use of "buzzwords" really ***ed me off after a couple weeks, they just didnt have a clue!

No swearing
