Think I will just book those 3 days off in the middle and have the whole lot

add the 4 days after mayday and it stretches it to 17 days total.

It's the queens jubilee that is likely to become a new annual national holiday, will be in 2012 though, to mark her 60th anniversary on the throne

It's a national holiday. Unless it affects your statutory holiday then it will be up to your employer as to whether you get it off, obviously even if it does, you might still not get the day off, but it would mean you got an extra day off somewhere

With a creative use of a couple of lieu days and the holiday in April I have booked I should be able to have the entire month off whilst only using a weeks leave.

As far as security goes the State has a burden to protect it's citizens, whoever they may be. The transport will be related to this security provision.
