My trusty old Mitsubishi 930SB has developed a rather unpleasant horizontal flickering effect :(, so I've convinced myself that its time to make the move up to LCD. Thanks to an imminent (and quite generous) redundancy package that's heading my way, money isn't too much of an issue, though space is a slight factor, so no larger than 24". Its going to be used for general office/internet use, gaming (mostly RTS rather than FPS, but the occasional DoD session or similar) and also some movies. I'm a bit of all-rounder really. And there's a nice shiny 2900XT to powering this.

I've been looking the Dells, and given the ghosting issue on the HC version was more inclined towards the non-HC version. What's going to be greater evil though? A ghosting issue that may or may not occur, or the reduced colour range of the non-HC?

Recently though I've also started to have a look at the BenQ FP241. What's the difference between the W and WZ versions? The WZ has something called 'Perfect Motion Technology', but does this mean in practice? I did a quick search on this forum through other 'what 24"?' threads, and couldn't help noticing that the BenQ's don't ever seem to get considered or recommended. Does nobody really have them, or is there something I should know about?!

Any other manufacturers I should be considering?

Thanks for any and all advice?

from what i've read and heard, the HC version and non-HC are not so different even with the colours. Common sense would suggest saving a few quid and not taking a risk by getting the normal one imo :)

Agreed. I was coming to that conclusion myself, just that 72% vs 92% gamut sounds like a huge difference!

So that leaves it between the Dell 2407 WFP and one of the BenQ's, although in practice it doesn't look like the FP241W is coming back into stock any time soon, so probably looking at the WZ version then. From the reviews I've read it does seem the BenQ is possibly the slightly better monitor, but is it worth the extra? Plenty of Dell owners around here, so I would love to hear from some BenQ owners, before I make a decision. Must be some of you out there surely!

The HC apparently suffers horrible smearing/ghosting which the non-HC does not.
