...But you can't make him get his wallet out!!!

Got a Jeep Cherokee with running problems...turns out its a broken valve spring...oh, and the head gaskets fubar. Get it stripped, old farmer who bought it to us takes control of the situation...takes that head to our engineering shop and asks them to fix it.

After a lesson in engineering off them, he comes back, picks the rest of the heads up...and agrees to have them skimmed as well.

I tell them i need a full headset and bolts, he tells them when he goes to pick everything up that we don't need anything other than the headgasket...so thats what i have. He even took the old headgasket away with him, 'just in case' he could use it...

I love my job...
:o

Real farmers don't drive Jeeps.

He drives a Kia Sportage...and an old Series Landy...the Jeep i think belongs to a family member. When the power steering pump packed up on the Kia, he promptly went to the scrapyard and bought a power steering pump off an old Shogun, because he didn't want to pay the asking price for a new one...and they're all the same ain't they!. Couldn't understand why it wouldn't fit...

Those 2.5 VMs never seem to be right after a gasket (or gaskets) go. It takes some real precision work to get them running anywhere near as good again. Or simply just replacing all the heads with brand new ones.

Most of them are just instantly converted into scrap.

Think thats what should have happened with this one...guys moaning about just the price of the machine shop work and the head gasket already. Gotta love people like this...

I understood the jist of it. :D

Yep, they all want it fixed but don't want to pay for it.

One customer moaned like **** about a steadily increasing bill and as time went on, we found various other things wrong with it.
He told us to to finish up and not do any more, as it was getting too expensive.
When he arrived to collect the car we went over the bill with him and advised the other things that still needed doing..

Got asked why we didn't do them then... wait.. what?

Heh, have you seen the torquing BS you need to go through when you refit the heads?
