i've just connected my 360 elite to my media centre edition laptop, and was looking forward to transferring aload of pictures and music to my 120 gig elite hard drive, only to find that you can only stream the data for viewing, not copy it across! I was a bit miffed as you can imagine. I really cant be bothered to rip all my music again directly onto the xbox, what a pain. Is there a software workaround for this?

I'm not 100% certain but I think if you copy it all to an external USB hard drive then hook that up to the Xbox, you can access all the files direct from there. Not quite what you were looking for though...

plugged in my usb dongle and its the same story, you can view the pics on it and listen to the mp3s on it but you cannot copy them onto the xbox. Well that sucks. I've got a 120 gig hdd to fill up with game trailers from xbox live then...

"Hi There",

"You" could probably "sell" the 120Gb HDD and get a "cheap" 20GB HDD and "make" a bit of money? But "you" would have to put "up" with the "fact" that the 20GB one wouldn't match "your" 360 "Elite"

could indeed sell the 120, but I can imagine there is a workaround for this so will have to investagate a little more. No idea what the punctuation is about btw

There is no "workaround", the 360 HDDs use "DRM" and a "proprietary" FileSystem (I "think"). I "would" have read by now if there "was".

Why the strange punctuation?

Sport "Relief". Some people are "running" a "mile". I am "running" my "finger" over the "Shift" and "2" keys.

I'll swap my 20GB with you if you want ;). Even sweeten the deal with some cash, assuming I could transfer my files... :P

Keep running out of room. Don't knock Live's DLC until you've tried it.

ok, maybe I was a bit hasty in criticising xbox live, ive got some stuff coming down the pipe right now :) a kind offer jeeva, but im gonna hold onto it for now, will keep you in mind if i decide to swap it in future though.

Buy a PS3 ;)

Just kidding. It cant be done with the 360, even with the xsata transfer kits you still cant copy files directly to the xbox hdd because all of the data on the drive is encrypted.

On a serious note though you can achieve what you want to with a PS3.

I'm not entirely sure what the actual problem is. Why cant you just stream the music? Why do you "Have" to have it resident on the 360 HDD?

You'd have to have your PC and 360 on when ever you wanted to listen to music. I mean, What would the point in that be, You'd just play the music through your PC right?

I personally find it silly too, that you can't put anything onto the drive

"Hi There",

It "seems" he has a 120GB HDD that he "thought" he could load "content" onto locally.

There are many "obvious" reasons why you would not want to "stream" content, as opposed to "loading" it from the "local" device.

1) "Noise" of 2 machines on ("360" and "PC") instead of "1".
2) "Cost" of electricity.
3) Lack of "space" on PC as opposed to "relatively" empty 120GB HDD

"I" am sure I could "think" of others, but they are "fairly" obvious.

Oh dear! This thread is steering close to PS3 > 360 territory, this might offend other users of the forum.

Please think of the children !

"Hi There",

My "Speech Marks" offend some people, your "funny" images "offend" others. "You" cannot please "everyone".

Sensitive times we live in bro's while we stroll around this place like jolly green giants.

Sounds like the op bought the wrong tool for the job, one of those PStriples would be better suited for this job.
