You dont expect it to happen to you..

Unlucky mate :(, those lads were probably roaming around for people because it was match day, easy targets with lots of money. Hope you're ok after it all.

Most likely, its a shame really, thats the only way for a lot of people to out of the stadium to get home, seeing as both train stations are out that way, and the bus stops.

Just a shame it happened, must have been the 30th game ive gone to there, no trouble till now.

No reason why that couldn't happen now. It's not like criminals purchase their firearms legally.
Petty thieves, like the ones we're talking about in thsi thread, wouldn't carry such weapons unless there was a real risk they were mugging someone who was carrying a weapon.

Hmmm. I love the internet, as you never know how truthful people are being. I was right with you until you told us the coppers gave you a lift home with blue lights flashing. This is absolutely and category against the rules and I doubt any police officer would risk his career by doing it.

I have seen ambulance drivers use their blue lights to get back for their meal break, although they weren't speeding or driving reckless.

BELIEVE IT! :D :D

Unlucky dude :(
Aye :(.

Just had a call back from them, and they're checking the CCTV outside the stadium tomorrow, and there was 2 cameras near where it happened, one in the tunnel, thats all i know - both been ruined, so nothing from them.

Lets hope they're on CCTV.

It's harsh when it happens mate, although you never know how you'll react until it happens, we were attempt-mugged recently on the tube back from brixton, stupidly we stood upto the guys and luckily they were bluffing, they got off at the next stop and nothing happened.

It could have gone a completely different way though.. if it happened again i'd just give up my phone/wallet/whatever and play it safe.

Yeah, we werent gonna take any risks, at the end of the day i'd rather lose my phone or whatever rather than be hurt/seriously hurt.

Brilliant idea... Not. Have you compared gun deaths in countries like the us vs the uk? Killings are disproportionatley high for the population of the usa.

Switzerland has fully automatic assault rifles in 14% of homes, yet a homicide rate per 100,000 which is lower than England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. (1999-2001)

I'd be willing to bet the culture is somewhat different over there though. In the uk you'd have chavs and gangs shooting each other up with innocent people being caught in the crossfire. If the current killings are anything to go by.

How many of those switzerland homocides are gun deaths though? More people in the uk probably get killed by other means.

Chavs and gangs shooting each other up? I have no problem with that :p

Well it at least indicates that there is not necessarily a direct link between gun ownership and gun crime. If the ownership criteria are strict and well regulated...etc like we have with certain firearms in this country today there wouldn't be a problem, criminals wouldn't be getting their hands on legal weapons. (This may well be the case in Switzerland, I'm not sure)

Most states in the US have ridiculously slack gun laws.

That sucks syke, glad it wasn't any worse though!

My sister's boyfriend was recently mugged and beaten up after falling asleep in a taxi. You just can't go anywhere without wondering 'what if' these days :(

Agreed, it's getting a bit stupid. And sorry to hear about that Syke.

About two weeks ago my sisters boyfriend got hit over the head by a bouncer with a metal bar/rod! Turns out the bouncer took a dislike to him because he had been smoking in the wrong place (by accident) and lit another one as he walked out. Ended up with about 10 stitches, concussion and a burst eardrum.

always BLACK guys that seems to rob people.

I don't know if that was sarcastic or not... but the bouncer was black.

Tasers are the way to go! :)

You can make your own, plastic case, couple of screws and a disposable camera... Don't blame me when it all goes horribly wrong and you get 300v through your eye or something. :D

Same thing happened to me and a friend not too long ago. Tall black guy approached us at a bus stop asking us for our stuff, we said no, threatened to stab us then forced his hands in our pockets and put me in an armlock. While this was happening a bus pulled up to the station which we saw had some people in (dont know how many) in which my friend called for help while the doors were open. All the people inside, even the bus driver who is sat behind a protective cover just sat there and did nothing. Stupid mugger didnt even bother my to get my right hand pocket which had my wallet in (I mean, if youre going to mug someone atleast do a good job :p). Rang the police once we got home. They arrived about 20minutes later and then took us for a drive to where we got mugged and we had a drive around the area.

Luckily only my crappy £15 phone plus £2 change was taken, similar sort of thing with my friend.

I was also surprised and pleased at the support we were offered by the police after the incident.
