Windows updates. Just completed. Says i need to reboot and keeps reminding me...it's annoying and i don't want to reboot. How do i destroy this reminder and still have automatic updates on?

I don't think you can and it will make it self reboot if you leave it long enough.

As long as its not one of the countdown ones just shove into the bottom right corner so its off the monitor and it wont keep popping up.

there is a way to stop this:
go to start - run - gpedit.msc
local computer policy
computer configuration
administrative templates
windows components
windows update

double click "re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations"
set it to enabled
change the restart in minutes to the max 1440.

this will stop it pretty much. i dunno if this works in windows home, it does on professional. it sets the amount of time before it asks you to restart again to 24 hours.

Or you could just enable the "no auto restart for scheduled windows updates" and disable it completley.

Why would you not want to reboot after installing the updates anyway :confused:

They obviously wont make a blind bit of difference until you do

Because its auto updates, you enable them so you dont have to bother updating. But you dont want to shutdown until the end of the day because your downloading or playing a game or doing work or something that you cant have interruptted.

Pointless having auto updates on then if you ask me

Might as well just do the updates manually......when you can be arsed to reboot

Because the stupid thing will reboot your machine automatically if you leave it. If your in the middle of something then you'll lose it !

yeah but you will still get the popup every 10 mins, this stops the popup
