You win one of the 18 millionaire prizes on tonights lottery, your plans?

Buy a house, a nice car, then a holiday which would probably spend about £350-400k of it and then bank the rest.

A million would be enough to see me living comfortably for the rest of my days I would imagine.

Now forgive me if i am wrong but surely rather than buying a house outright if you put the money into a high interest account the interest would be a lot higher than that of a mortgage meaning that you would probably make money?

Oddly enough the national lottery advisors when you win a large amount actually tell you to do exactly that.
 
Buy a £250-350k 3-4 bedroom detached house and carry on as normal. I'm not that bothered with the rest to be honest, I just want to live mortgage/rent free! :)
 
Keep about 100k for nice spendings, put the other 900k into housing renting out a few houses. The rental properties, I'd buy purely for rental value, so probably something with a relatively high rental %.

Housing is by no means the most lucrative way to make money, but it's one of the lower risk strategies, so it would do for me.

Pay mortgage off, New Car, Pay the small amount of debt I have off,
redecorate house and add an extension, new double glazing/redecorate.
Pay off whatever is remaining on parents mortgage/debts.

Give some cash to close friends then pop the rest into ISA/high interest account for as long as I can.

Either that or work out how much I would need stick where for the interest to be usefull
 
Drink beer until I die.

Srs: Buy some student rental houses in the UK, probably Canterbury cause there is so many students there, put dad in charge of running them. Do the same in Whistler, Canada and live over there.

Use the profit from these to keep buying more houses and completely monopolise the student rental market, slightly undercut everyone.

Then drink beer until I die.
