Your car history memory lane.....

One of these two Honduh's I can never decide which, the Prelude was the quicker of the two but the Civic was so much fun

I have two, for very different reasons.

First was my MkIII Astra Turbo. Great fun for a few grand, easy to maintain and generally well received even by Vauxhall haters.

2nd would be my MkII Astra CDi. The original one was my first 'quick' car having come from a MkI Fiesta 950cc Popluar Plus. The 1.8i went really well especially being in a light car and at the time (early 90's) it was still quite a head turner lol. However that car was ready for the scrappers so on a whim I looked around for another one in great condition. I found the one below on ebay so snapped it up. 1 Owner, 25K miles and in mint condition. Sure it's a crap Mk2 Astra by most standards, however it drives perfectly, doesn't cost much to keep alive and makes me happy :)

Previously had 2 Ford Probe 24Vs and now a 1994 RX7.

Had the rex 5 years near enough, still have plans for it for the next 3 years and no intention to sell :)

They are ridiculously capable and quick for a car of its age. I've said many a time, if I could find a 24V (4 Motion or R32) engined one in good condition, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

I've only owned 2 cars, the rest have been company cars but I had 7 happy years with my Astra G SRi. I sold it last Spring and miss it like mad. The only upside is that it has gone to a very good home with someone who is plying it with love and cash.

How did you manage to get a 1998 motor on an 01 plate?

Built July 1998 (last one off the line). Sat in the Ford Museum at Dagenham unregistered for 3 years alongside the other Cosworths:-

Until that is when in 2001 a BBC exec went on a tour of the then closed museum, noticed the Scorp and said "you know, if you still made those I'd buy one right away" (I assume it was an Royal Institute for the Blind day out or something). As they were selling off the stock he drove home in it minus an undisclosed sum.

So, it's a Y reg with BBC in it.

The last Cosworth Ford ever built or sold.

The museum has since re-opened under the "Ford Heritage Centre" name - and they have since acquired another Scorpio Cosworth.

Next on the cards I'm looking at a TT. Miss the VTR the most, best handling car by a long shot.

1988 Escort RS Turbo.

Got this in '93 whilst based in Germany with the RAF at the tender age of 19. Not the greatest car I have owned by any stretch, but is the first I think of when reminiscing of times past.

God life was simple then.

Enjoy the early years young un's, they go mighty fast :p

I miss my old 850R.
It was the most comfortable car I'd ever had the pleasure of driving and the switch from sedate wafting to manic lunacy was always waiting to be flicked!
