Your current Fish tank Setups!

Thanks. I'm off to Reef-fest Saturday so might get a pair (I'll tell the mrs they were only a tenner each :p)

Great looking tank there, w3bbo!

When you post some more pics, please can we have some of the sump, etc? I can't resist a good nosy at the technical kit!

One day I'll get round to setting up the reef tank that I've been collecting things for.

Yeah will do.

I've thought about starting my first marine tank, though I'd probably begin with something simple. I have quite a bit of experience with freshwater, but know very, very little about salt water set-ups.

I think a 180 litre is a good start for your first marine.

It's not gonna set you back fortunes, you only need around 20KG of live rock, the tank is still big enough for stable water parameters and the fish are relatively small, so your outlay is not massive.

Clowns, chromis, anthias and inverts are not that expensive compared to say, tangs, and although losing a fish is not nice, if the worst does happen, it won't hit you in the pocket so hard.

You will soon pick it up mate, the power if the internet is great, some very good books out there for reference, i was always nervous about starting my marine and still am, i have just taken it really slow, learning as i go on:)

Thanks, Spook, I guess it's like a lot of things in life.....taking the plunge. :)

That was one the reasons i said sod it i am going marine, always wanted once since i started freshwater fishkeeping since the age of 12 and the time never came, kept on putting it off, now at the age of 42 (43) on monday :( i just had to start or the day will never come, yes it cost me a lot of money and will do so for many years, hopefully i will be rewarded with a stunning tank to look at.
Already shut down one of my freshwater tanks, still got a corner one in my back room.

webbo how long have you had the copperband? my favorite fish, always wanted one but read they are really difficult to keep in captivity.

impressive tank.

Yeah, they are stunning fish for sure:

Had him 3 months now so the jury is still out. They are difficult fish for sure so you MUST make sure they are feeding before purchase. I see so many that are undernourished and 'pinched' which is so sad. Thankfully my LFS kept this one for a month for me to ensure he was eating. Mine did what it was bought for (ate all aiptasia and fan worms) and now gobbles down PE Mysis shrimp.

PICS PLEASE!!!

FROM EVERYONE WHO GOES!!!

Got a few additions, some from reef fest, others elsewhere. Apologies for iphone pics which doesn't take great pics with actnics on so difficult to pick up the proper colour :(.

Acropora clathrata (could be A.deswali?) - white with cyan/purple tips.

Was nice to see the reps being far more involved at reef fest this year.. and open to criticism to go with it!

w3bbo to get a better pic with an iphone (going to sound odd but!) use a pair of sunglasses to take the picture through! works wonders for a quick fix!

I had to refrain from new purchases today as my Flatworm Exit still hasnt arrived.. those beasts can munch through / destroy corals far to easy! Bonus is my new doser arrived which has prompted some moving around of equipment / power packs etc to make it fit!

Is that stuff legal in the UK now? I know customs wouldn't allow imports at one point due to a banned chemical.

Melanarus wrasse did a great job on my flatworm issue a couple of years back.

Nice confusa webbo, I think I want one of those.

Do it! Couldn't say no for £30!

It's confusing with that stuff. Officially it's been banned as one of the ingredients is used in deisgner drugs or something, but some people still seem to be importing it and you can actually buy it here http://www.coralculture.co.uk/shop/index.php?manufacturers_id=12
